Namah Sivaya Stacee, I appreciate your considerate reply. I want to reply to the above, hoping it is okay since you brought up Babaji...I'm assuming Haidhakhan Babaji. He did predict dark times in the near future, and so I just want to project some words of caution re: great beings and their predictions. I hope the group will excuse me, as it falls in context with our discussion re: Amma and liberation. Years ago someone gave me the little book Teachings of Babaji (Hairakhan Baba). I never paid much attention to it, but picked it up again recently. There were many dark prophecies in it, particularly about the great revolution and destruction coming. But on page 44 it is written: 7 January 1983 "In the evening during darshan, Shree Babaji told that soon in America people will get a form of disease which they will be unable to stop and which will cause death. Some will vomit themselves to death, still others will bleed to death from cuts which will not stop bleeding. There is no sure prevention and there will be no cure. He recommends fasting as the best means of avoidance. These diseases will spread from America to all parts of the world." But as you can nearly 24 years later, this hasn't occurred. In the intro, it says that Shri Babaji said that mankind is in great danger during the period of Kali Yuga--the Age of the rise of materialism and the decline of spiritual life. He foretold of widespread physical destruction and change and death in this decade....that was written in the early 80's, yet this prediction has not materialized yet and certainly not "in this decade", meaning the 80's. He first began predicting these things almost 30 years ago. So why the predictions that haven't yet materialized? I was recently re-reading Paul Brunton's "A Search in Secret India"...written in the 1930's it created a great sensation. His visits to Meher Baba were full of doubt, as Baba was extremely erratic in behavior and even his disciples said that his predictions never came true. Then I happened upon "Talks with Sri Aurobindo" where he and his inner circle were discussing Meher Baba, sometimes under name and sometimes under the guise of X. Here's a part: S: To go back to X: his action is, as I have said, very erratic, saying one thing just now, contradicting it the next moment, prophesying so many things that don't come true. Sri Aurobindo: That means he is living and acting from the Cosmic Consciousness. I don't know what realisation he has reached. Perhaps it is in the vital plane. That is a plane of possibilities. If any possibility or an idea or suggestion comes to him with some force, he accepts it. The nature of the vital formations is to present them with a force. And when another possibility comes with the same force, X accepts that too so that his prophecies go wrong, become contradictory and his planning and behavior erratic. This sort of thing I have known by experience. But the European mind can't understand it. It calls it all fraud. I also think we could be in for some very difficult times, but I'm also sure we must pray to the Divine and do our best to bring positive energy to our planet....remembering that this is also transitory and to find refuge in the Self. And also, we don't have to take every prediction made by even the great beings as set in stone. I think Sri Aurobindo explains this well, as I've read him to say in another book that prophesy becomes more difficult and less accurate the longer the span of time it is predicted for. Guest guest
Dear Sita, Bummer!!! I was hoping this message did not go out to the group as a whole...as it did not come through my mailbox. The message in its entirety did however go to the archives. I asked internally about that, (plea to Amma really). And I was told that whoever is drawn to read the message has something to learn by it. But as a whole the information about the future...as you have so elaborately described is indeed, still the unknown an we cannot know for sure what the future will look like. It is not really the predictions that I was referring to, but the idea that we are in times of great change. And that God is working with us as much as possible to bring us to Love, Peace, Forgiveness and Joy. The other point I was hoping to make with this, was that there are tremendous opportunities for healing and awakening during these times. There is no way to know what will happen. As I have said in my message that I have been trying to walk away from such ideas. Even Amma has said in the most recent movie, Darshan, that we are heading for the abyss. Great beings can read the trend of the times...and even we, ourselves can see the trend if we look around. I try to stay focused on Love, Amma, Amma, Amma and Amma
