Guest guest
I was reading in a book by a Western inspired Communist how Gods like Shiva/Vishnu were "invented" later on, and not worshipped at all during Vedic times. As proof, he cites the fact that in the Rig Veda, Rudra/Vishnu have only a few shlokas, while Indra and Agni have 1000's. According to him, this means Indra/Agni were more important than Vishnu/Rudra. I know there is a fault in this logic somewhere, can anyone help me locate it? Guest guest
Of course there is a logical fault! You spend 12 years in school, then 3-4 years doing a degree. Only then you do a 1-2 years Master degree. But that doesnt mean that the 16 years in lower education you spent is more important than the 1-2 year spent in Masters, as that will get you the job! The Vedic Rishis knew it is very hard to reach Higher up Deities like Shiva/Vishnu, so they recommend using the help of in between Demi Gods. So the Vedic Rishis appealed to Indra to give them Divine Mind, Agni to give them Divine Will Power, Varun to give them vastness(Varun is the God of Infinity- Infinite Love, Infinite Peace, Kindness etc), Vayu for Pran control. Of course you dont need these Demi Gods- you can control mind with Rajyoga, Pran with Pranayam, **but**, this again comes to the discussion we were having about Form or Formless. You dont have to worship Indra as Divine Mind and ask for his powers, but it will make the job easier. Of course, these Demi Gods can only give you the powers they represent, not more. And it is easy to get seduced by the power and start misusing it. So you can use Chandi Power to destroy your Tamogun/negativity, or kill someone. This is the reason that most Gurus dont recommend calling these Divine Powers, unless you know what you are doing and have enough Will Power to resist abusing them. This misuse of powers is the reason these Demi Gods fell out of fashion, and people stopped worshipping them. But this isnt the Demi Gods fault! Well said...The westerner have degraded/deformed all facts about hinduism that even hindus doubt them Vedas start with simple rituals on how to get rain in time, for simple farmers...goes on rituals for businessmen, for kings and finally in Vedanta,...it tells the highest philosophy Rigveda is a document of evolution of mind of a simple person...upto the highest Vedanti. love
Guest guest
> Of course there is a logical fault! You spend 12 years in school, True Shanracer. It must be remembered that Vedas must not be seen in isolation, but a part of the Vedic tradition which includes Upanishads, Puranas and the Gita. These different books were written for people with different mental and spiritual level, and hence stated the same truth in many different ways, but that doesnt mean that Gods were added later, or there are different Gods, as the shallow reading suggests(which is what most of these so called "commentators" do). As a simple example, the word Goswami is translated as Master of the Cows. So acc. to many translations, a highly spiritual person becomes a master of cows! (Go also means senses, so Goswami is one who has conquered the senses). This is the sort of mental level of most Western translators. But why blame them- they had a hidden agenda, they wanted us to convert. As Dr Frawley has stated, the surprising thing is Indians still continue to follow these degrading views.
