Guest guest Posted October 8, 2006 Report Share Posted October 8, 2006 BENGALURU, MYSURU FROM NOV. 1 Bangalore, Oct. 8 (BRS)- Come this year's Rajyotsava Day (Nov. 1, 2006) marking the golden jubilee of birth of Karnataka and being celebrated as Suvarna Karnataka, anglicised names of cities Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore, Belgaum, Shimoga and Hospet are going to be changed to Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Belgavi, Shivamogga and Hosapete, respectively. Home Minister M.P. Prakash disclosed the above decision of the government to reporters after taking part in a high-level meeting that was held here to discuss matters relating to celebration of Suvarna Karnataka. The list of cities whose names would be restored to their original Kannada versions was being prepared by the Department of Kannada and Culture, the Minister added.
