Guest guest
Dear Mahalakshmi, I want to personally thank you for praying for the members of this group. This means so much to me, I cannot even begin to tell you. Reading about your adventure made me long to visit these temples myself, then I realized how fortunate I was that, someone who has never met me personally carried me in her heart from Temple to Temple. Surely we all can see that you must have a VERY BIG heart. Also, you have set an example for me. To carry people in one's heart did not add any weight to your journey. May you be carried in the heart of the Divine always for your sincerity, generosity and purity. As you have taken more to the altar than just yourself---I wanted to be sure you knew that the blessings that come to me, I also share with you!! Guest guest
dear Lien you have struck an emotional chord. your mail brought tears as i read it. i would like to share some deep thoughts from my childhood with you while we are on this topic. my eldest sister fell seriously ill from surgery in her ear. when docs suspected a brain damage as a result, my mother broke down completely as my sis was in her 2nd year B.Tech and the family was banking on her to take up a job to support our family which was not doing too well with my mom's meagre income at school and tuitions. my mom was then working for the All Saints' High School in Hyderabad. as soon as the news broke out in the school, the rev brother and all the christian teachers lit a candle in the gunfoundry church and held spl prayers for my sister's speedy recovery. we were asked to come to the church too. when my sis was told at the hospital that spl prayers were done just so that she is ok, the hope to make it got triggered and she became alright very soon. call it faith or the power of simple prayers, but what matters is these were people whom we never knew would volunteer to do it. it was a wonderful feeling for me. i must have been just 10 or 11 and it made such an impact on me that i started praying for those whom i came in contact as praying for someone gave me such happiness. it soon became a habit of sorts. so the credit for my doing this for us all should really go to those service minded convent teachers and the rev brother. it is not the church or the temple or the mosque. it is the sincere prayers for others which touches a chord. raaste alag alag, manzil ek. paths are different but the goal is one - i.e. god. also later i came across an article by a writer whom i think i remember as anees jung who accompanied the then president of pakistan, zia-ul-haq's wife to those famed muslim holy places in and around new delhi (i would start the day reading the newspaper even while very young). the president's wife knelt in prayer. while she got up anees jung asked her what did she ask god, to which she replied in urdu - "hum sab ke liye duaa maang rahi thi." which translates into "i was praying for everyone's welfare" which remark made a deep impression in my mind. that set me thinking that there is no enemy anywhere. prayers and good thoughts and deeds are a powerful medium to bond with others. we are twice blessed if we can think and pray for others too while we are doing it for ourselves. i had mentioned 4 other temples in my mail which you might have noticed. one of them is the famed paadaikatti amman temple which is believed to revive the sick and also blesses childless couples with children. when i saw those cute cradles with toy babies in them hanging from the temple's holy tree, i rushed to a nearby shop to buy 5 cradles and tied all of them for people who wanted to have kids very badly. i prayed for all the five to be blessed with children very soon. three of them are from this very list. they do not know yet for i am writing this openly to you. may they indeed be blessed with children very soon. you are right i am a leo and supposed to have a large heart!!! i am truly happy that you took time to read and reply the way you did. i am indeed blessed. may god bless us all with the best in life. mahalakshmi lotus7moon <lotus7moon > wrote: Dear Mahalakshmi, I want to personally thank you for praying for the members of this group.
