Guest guest
I read in a book that while meditating, if you find it hard to concentrate and that your mind keeps wandering, one should disassociate oneself from the mind. How can one do that?

Disassociation of mind is the whole meaning of meditation !! There is no short cut method for mind control However one can learn slowly how to disassociate...by watching the mind. If the thoughts are bombarding... try seeing each thought as a third person..thinking thoughts as different from you. If this practice continues, slowly thoughts will diminish, and mind will be more concentrated. If mind is not concentrating at all rest for 5 mnt without caring for mind or thoughts and then do some 1-4-2 pranayama..it will also cool the mind with love

As said before, look at it in a 3rd person perspective. See the thoughts, then as Sri Aurobindo did, block them from entering and doing their damage. If one slips by, as in a lustful thought, then do as Bruce Lee did. He saw the thought, then in his mind, imagined it as a piece of paper, and he set it on fire. It really works. Now what you are doing there, you are already focusing your mind from wandering, to see itself wither out from its own activity. After finding peace and oblivion from it, then you shall enter into communion slowly unto the universe, to see and know The Reality than Maya, or whatever you strive for. For me, that would be a step unto the Supramental that I strive for.
