Respected Prasanna Kumarji, Pranams.

This observing Ramleela is in North India, yes. But

actually Dassera is a festival celebrated in memory of

Goddess Durga slaying Demon Mahishaasura.

As I heard from elders, there are two Navaraatris

celebrated in a year. First one is for Sri Rama taking

avatar during Chaitra suddha Navami(Mar-Apr)

-Paramaatma as "Purusha" - to kill demon Ravana. GOD

taking four forms -Rama-Lakshmana-Bharata-Satrughna;

to teach us by himself practicing great ideals in the

right way; Rama is Paramatma -embodiment of Dharma;

other three are Jeevatma representation totally

surrender & serve GOD; also it is elaborated that Rama

is GOD & Bharata is Bhakta of GOD; Lakshman &

Satrughna are jeeva - one surrender & serve GOD

directly and other same to Bhakta of GOD meaning

either way WE attain Moksha;

The other is during Aswiyuja suddha Dasami(Sept-Oct)

-Paramaatma as "Aadi Paraa Shakti" - to kill demon

Mahishaasura. Both are to eliminate evil, protect good

& restore Dharma. with all respects to elders & I

humbly stand tobe corrected
