Hello,

Basra is meant as Natural Pearl. They are presently available from

Bahrain. Insist on X-ray certification. Prices for top quality is akin

to Blue Sapphire prices with average cost at $1,000 per carat. My

company only supplies the white colors (silver color to ivory color).

Best wishes,

Richard

Hi,

I can supply best quality Basra Pearl for US$ 500 per carat with X-ray

certification, as my brother in law is collector of basra pearls. Also

you can look at 100% natural South sea pearls which are more easily

available than Basra and cost much less. Recently I sold 3 carat South

sea pearl for INR 6000. Basra pearls are no more being fished because

of on going war in iraq.

Regards,

-Ishwar-

Dear Sriman,

Namaste!!! Thanks for the info. Members please note that Ishwar sells

Natural Pearls.

But forget the South Seas as they are cultured imitations.

Best wishes,

Richard

Hello Mr Ishwar,

Thanks for your reply...I am interested in buying basra pearl but

not right now. Where are you located by the way? if India, then

which city? because I am from Delhi so if u are in some other city

then it'll be hard to touch base anyway.

regards,

Pooja

Hi Pooja,

Basra Pearls are very rare to come by, let me put it this way it is as rare a bixbite (red beryl). Maybe more. Not many have heard of New Finds in Basra during the last 50 years. So in my opinion if you get one it has to have a vintage of 56 years in the least. Here is one rare Pearl of Basra, a prayer of sufi saint Rabia Al Basri (she was from Basra);

"O Lord! If I worship You for fear of Hell, burn me in Hell, and if I worship You in hope of Paradise, exclude me from Paradise.

But if I worship You for Your Own sake, grudge me not Your everlasting Beauty."

Warm regards,

Abhishek
