At the instance of School of Bhagavad Gita, noted Malayalam film- maker Shaji N Karun is planning a mega-serial — 'Upanishad Dhara' — with which he hopes to capture the essence of beauty, subtlety and depth of India's Vedic wisdom. The Upanishads, 108 in number, discuss philosophy, meditation and nature of God. Composed over several centuries, they form the core spiritual thought of Vedantic Hinduism. Adi Shankara, revered seer, has written commentaries for 11 Upanishads. Now Karun plans a 200-episode series on the scriptures. "The work involves massive research and logistics, besides extraordinary team work. It will take two years of constant research before filming can start," he told TOI. Funds for the project, estimated to be Rs 25 crore, might come from the School of Bhagavad Gita. "Since it's a mission to highlight India's heart and philosophy, the serial won't be weighed in terms of profit and loss," Karun said. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/2030242.cms
