Guest guest
Namaste Friends, In assisting new memebers or new beginners who might find it impossible to grasp the correct sound of GuNg. Hope this example will help: Say the word "Ung" as in cow "dung". (Don't get me wrong, the cow is sacred in India. Every part of it is sacred, including its dung which is dried in villages for use as fuel. There is no disrespect to the cow.) Add "G" in front of "Ung" and we will get the correct sound for GuNg. For helping with pronunciations for different deities, there are good sound files created by dear Ketanji. There are also other good contributions by other wonderful members. These are stored in the Files Section of this Group. Click on "Files" at the left-hand side and scroll through the files until you find them. Another place where you can find good different Sound Files is at Neil Campbell's website (some sound files/mantras not available yet as the site is still under revamp and full construction Or I can't seem to find them this time. Last time I looked, there were several sound files for deities): http://www.shivabeads.co.uk/ <http://www.shivabeads.co.uk/> Japa Japa by definition is the repeating of a mantra, traditionally performed on a mala to keep count. For quotes on the power and blessings of japa by some of the rishis and sages please click here <http://www.shivabeads.co.uk/japaquotes.htm> . The japa mantra generally recommended for use with Rudraksha malas is: Om Namah Shivaya (Pronounced: Ong Na-mah Shi-va-ya) hear mantra <http://www.shivabeads.co.uk/Om%20Namah%20Shivaya.wav> For more information on this auspicious mantra please click here <http://www.shivabeads.co.uk/Om%20Namah%20Shivaya.htm> Friends, Neilji is U.K. distributor for Rudra Centre. ===========
