In his first response to the latest Indo-Pak statement in RSS mouthpiece Panchjanya, he has asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to reveal what had happened behind the scenes at Havana. The Vajpayee government had made it incumbent upon Pakistan to check cross-border terrorism for keeping the peace dialogue on. The BJP’s perception is that once this separation takes place, President Pervez Musharraf may build pressure on India to resolve other issues, including Jammu and Kashmir, while showing no movement on anti-terrorism measures. Vajpayee told Panchjanya that “whatever took place, was not good.” He felt the implementation of the joint statement “would pose a danger to the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.” “After obtaining this joint statement, Pakistan would take further steps to fulfil its evil designs,” said the former prime minister. Earlier, when asked why wasn’t Vajpayee or Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L.K. Advani responding to the joint statement, BJP sources had maintained that they would once the details of the joint mechanism were made public. With no details forthcoming, Vajpayee has chosen to react. And to cap it, he has chosen the mouthpiece of the RSS, which has a hawkish view on matters related to Pakistan. editor (AT) expressindia (DOT) com http://www.indianexpress.com/sunday/story/13327.html Everyone is raving about the all-new Mail.
