Guest guest Posted September 20, 2006 Report Share Posted September 20, 2006 Hello everyone, The text or the authors say the following Malefic are: Sun Saturn Mars, Rahu Ketu Benefic are: Jupiter Venus Mercury MOON(Increasing moon) But some text says SUN is benefic, is it malefic or benefic AND secondly, if any malefic planet is EXALTED will that EXALTED-MALEFIC be a benefic??? Sun is indeed a natural malefic, however, as with all planets, it can also be a temporary benefic due to lordship (according to the rules of Parashara). Regarding exaltation, let's say Sun, owning 1st, 5th or 9th, is exalted in Aries. Owning 1st, we would see lagna lord exalted in 9th; Owning 5th, we would see 5th lord exalted in lagna, and, owning 9th, we would see 9th lord exalted in 5th. So, in these instances, exaltation of Sun would be beneficial. Perhaps you could give your thoughts for Sun (owning malefic houses) in exaltation... Sun is considered a natural malefic due to the heat of its rays...the heat of Sun's rays can burn the significations of the bhava he occupies and the graha he conjuncts/combusts. Certainly Sun signifies the Atman, the Self of all beings. Sun also governs ego, pride etc., and, when afflicted and/or owning malefic houses can indicate arrogance, pride, hautiness, jealousy, dominating nature and so forth...
