devoting myself to Amma again

Om Namah Shivaya!

I was a new devotee a couple of years ago, but various circumstances

in my life coerced me into abandoning my budding spiritual practices

(i.e. emotional and physical illnesses). Now that my life is getting

back on track, I would like some suggestions in regards to renewing

my love -- outwardly speaking -- for Amma. I ordered some items for

worship from the Amma Store and intend to place more orders as my

financial situation permits, and I am reading about Her, praying to

Her, thinking about Her, telling people about Her...but is there

anything specific that I could do that might be considered

necessary? Or is the process of following my heart more than

enough?

I had a lovely mantra, but I cannot find the slip of paper on which

it was written for me, which saddens me greatly. I only remember the

first two words of it as well. But I've promised myself to ask for

another mantra when I see Her on retreat next summer, not to mention

a proper name from Her lips. There is also a monthly satsang that

meets in my state, and while I wasn't able to attend a couple of

weeks ago, I intend to be there next month without fail. I need to

be in the company of other loving devotees.

Lastly, does anyone have an Amma doll that s/he would like to sell at

a reduced price or give away? I would LOVE an Amma doll, but I don't

have the funds to afford even the baby Amma doll from the Amma Shop.

We might even be able to work out a bartering scenario as I am a

writer and former proofreader and editor.

P.S. Hello to Sweta, Jyota and Avinash. The three of you used to

write to me in '04 and '05. I am so sorry for dropping out of sight

for so long, but the travails of life certainly interfered and caused

me to veer off my path. I hope the three of you are doing really

well, and if you'd like to write again to me, I'd be overjoyed to

hear from you.

Love & Light,

Christine

I definitely recommend buying items from her organization, especially

for newcomers or those who want a strong connection (not like me,

uh). Whenever I buy simple things like incense or reading one of the

books or listening to a bhajan tape, I can feel Amma's presense more

so than when I don't. The books of Amma's conversations (Awaken

Children/Upadesh(?)amritam) are also excellent.

Om Namah Shivaya,

I would also encourage you to listen to & read some chants. Maybe start with Amma's 108 names, & you could work your way up to the Dinvine Mother's 1,000 names. That should make you feel very connceted with Amma's energy.

Love,

As I mentioned to Stacee privately, I just want to thank all of you

from the depths of my soul for contributing to the doll collection.

Believe me, I didn't expect such a heartfelt, beautiful response --

but I should have, especially considering that Amma unites us all,

and my sisters and brothers have never let me down before. An Amma

doll would be so wonderful, especially since my cats are starting to

dart under the bed when I follow them around, cooing that "Mama wants

a squish!" Oops. ;-)

Thank you, Tomgull and Sweta, for your suggestions. I did actually

purchase some items from the Amma Shop, including "My First Darshan"

(which reminds me so much of MY first darshan in '04), a wonderful

English bhajans CD entitled "This World," the MA OM meditation tape

(isn't Swamiji's voice soothing?), a gorgeous 8 x 10 photo of Ma and

a smaller photo of Jesus Christ, which basically bridges my Hindu and

Christian worlds. There is so much more I want to buy so that my

home feels complete, but at least I'm on the right track. The chants

would be especially appropriate at this time, but there is a monthly

satsang that features lovely chants in my area.

I've had to take a bit of a sabbatical from my new job due to renewed

PTSD and some physical problems that require a second ultrasound and

possible surgery. I'm already on SSDI, but I was trying to

transition into full-time work again. No such luck, not yet.

Thank you again, all of you. Much love and many hugs to you all.

Welcome back, Christine! It's good you're on the

path again.

By the way, instead of asking for a new mantra, what

you need to do is talk to one of the swamis. They

can probably help you.

Sincerely,

Jyotsna
