Guest guest
I'll be taking the class next month for IAM, having finally being able to fit some time into my day for a regular practice again. But, I've also learned what it comprises, due to talking with some devotees who learned it from the Refresher courses rather than the original classes. Is there no verification for those refreshers, relying on the honor system? From what was described, the technique is mostly Tantric balancing/integrating, which could be powerful if someone was really out of balance, but I'll wait until I take it. Anyways, doing a Google, I found someone's brochure for teaching IAM apparently outside the reigns of the satsangs and ashrams, but also found a listing on a UK site regarding the confidentiality of it: Class/Brochure site: http://www.trumba.com/calendars/workshops?eventid=52431349 I'm assuming that the class is the same as Amma's IAM, as the cost of $15 would coincide with the low cost and from what I know of the description it sounds the same, called the same, without any mention of Amma. Are "approved teachers" allowed to teach it in this way? Trademark notice from http://www.amma.org.uk/IAM.htm Important The I AM INTEGRATED AMRITA MEDITATION TECHNIQUE®; is protected under a registered trade mark in order to preserve the original form of this meditation designed and developed by Amma and to prevent misuse by unauthorized and unqualified teachers. Therefore, at the beginning of the course each participant is requested to sign an agreement that he or she shall keep the course, including all written materials received as part of the course, strictly confidential. This meditation course is meant only for a person of sound mental health. If you are at present under medical care and need medication for mental disposition, please contact us personally when you register for the course. If you are not sure about these requirements, or rather if you have any serious doubts, it is best to wait for the right moment - we plan more courses in the future. Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya! As per Amma's instructions nobody must tell another individual anything about what they do in I AM meditation unless that person is an authorized instructor. This is because as we practice we may be doing some minor mistake. Amma can forgive us on that but Amma will not forgive us if we teach an error to another individual. Cheers and have a nice weekend, Mahadevan venkitaraman --- joannapollner <joannapollner > wrote: > well my Dad and Sistter both took the I AM which i > will soon take in October > luckily they both are hush about it to me for over a > year )) they just will not say anything > joanna > > > > I'll be taking the class next month for IAM, > having finally being > > able to fit some time into my day for a regular > practice again. > > > > But, I've also learned what it comprises, due to > talking with some > > devotees who learned it from the Refresher courses > rather than the > > original classes. Guest guest
Om Amriteawarye Namaha Wanted to clarify any misunderstanding about an IAM class taught last weekend at a yoga center in CT. This class wasorganized and taught by authorized IAM teachers (as per Amma's blessings). It was supported by a devotee who wanted to learn the technique after meeting with Amma this summer in Marlboro. The course fee ($15) was for incidentals( handouts, travel expenses of the teachers etc.) There is more and more interest in having small groups learn this technique. If anyone is interested, we are willing to travel and teach small groups (minimum 8) in the New England area.We also have space in our home to teach every 3 months. We also have refreshers every month after our satsangs (4th Sun. of each month) Please contact at ammasdaughter . In Her love and service, satya and suchindra Get on board. You're invited to try the new Mail.
Guest guest
Has anyone downloaded the brochure, to see if it's Amma's IAM? If yes, we should definitely e-mail someone such as Ramaadevi, who sometimes teaches IAM. Everyone is raving about the all-new Mail.
Guest guest
The original listing of the workshop is more explicit than the brochure, so don't check this link if you don't want to know: http://www.trumba.com/calendars/workshops?eventid=52431349 The description sure sounds the same, and it does use the Registered Trademark in the title of the brochure: IAM - INTEGRATED AMRITA MEDITATION TECHNIQUE® tom Ammachi, Sweta Mitzel <swetabc wrote: > > Has anyone downloaded the brochure, to see if it's Amma's IAM? Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, The brochure Tom found is approved for the non-devotee version of the meditation course. Tom if you have heard about the technique in general and not in specific then this does not violate the rule that we not tell the practice. The specifics is what Amma does not want shared in public. The reason is best said by Mahadevan venkitaraman. When you take the course you are asked to acknowlege that you will not share the techninque with those that have not taken it. However, as we all know, people do not always follow the agreements that they sign nor do they fully follow what Amma says. If a person does not follow the directions then (IMHO) that is the business of that person and Amma. :-) There are no Meditation cops to make sure that we follow the directions - JUST KARMA! Finally the proper person to address your concerns is Steve Schmidt of the Amma Center of New Mexico. He is the lead meditation teacher for US.
