Guest guest
Respected members, Nothing could be more catastrophic than appointing a person as a moderator who has financial interests in astrology. It is not only a bad precedent, it's going to be tragic too. Now the threat of ban will hang on quite a few others. It was a group where ideas were freely exchanged without a BIG BROTHER watching. If there are exchanges of ideas heat gets generated , but one doesn't need a fire tender for it , it cools down as it started. Alas ! The group is not going to be the same any more. Typical of intellectuals, scare one and the rest are cowed down on their own. Didn't mrs Indira Gandhi do the same during the emergency ? Do I see some people crawling already? The silence of the seniors in the group like Rohiniranjan ji , Pt. Arjun ji, Krishnan ji, Prashant ji , and others is agonizing. I couldn't hold back any more. This is my strangled cry. With naman to all gurujan Varun Trivedi

Guest guest
dear varunji while understanding your pain, i wish to present the following FACTS: in the last incident of GBPKumarji itself, every memebr including me was highly vocal in requesting the owner or moderator to give a warning first IN A PUBLIC MESSAGE before he is banned and tanvir is more matured and more intelligent and he shown his exemplary maturity by reinstatement. here the moderator has done this ban without giving a warning in the group first as it seems he has been given the right to ban members by the owner. it is sad to note that tanvirji ignored the request of ALL MEMBERS to give a warning first before banning a member. if the group owner and moderator feel that they can ban anyone without giving a warning beforehand in the group, it is their prerogative and it is up to the members to work under such unilateral autocracy or not. however, i was the first to write to shashi shekharji saying that bhaskarji must not have been banned as no such mail has come from the group. it is unfortunate that the group owner or moderator who found time to ban had no time to inform this to the group and the group comes to know this when other members start writing on his ban. varunji, all the names you have taken are good contributors and none of them are going to go away or keep silent as i know tanvir ji very well and he built a great ashram and he was hardly into moderation of mails which is the hallmark of his maturity. on a personal note i rate tanvirji and this group as the most democratic group on the net. but repeated incidents of direct banning without warning (first time by tanvirji and second time by ashutoshji) gives a warning to all contributing members including me that they are the bosses and we are workers who can be terminated any time as they wish, because they chose not to give a public warning before banning. in government, there is a procedure to terminate a person first by furnishing a charge sheet, second by giving a show cause notice, followed by suspension and then termination. in this group, the owner or the moderator may do the following procedure for banning a member: 1. first write in a public message to the group listing out what all messages of this member are hurting others. 2. give a warning to the member publicly that if he does not abstain from such messages, he would be banned. 3. send a message to the group that he is banned. varunji, as you might have observed over years, RRji, myslef and other active contributors, we never keep silent if something happens to another member which is not justified. with best wishes pandit arjun , "varun_trvd" <varun_trvd wrote: > > Respected members, > > > Nothing could be more catastrophic than appointing a person as a > moderator who has financial interests in astrology. Guest guest
Dear Members, I am reminded of my meeting with a great astrologer and an intellectual in Jabalpur when I was a reporter with The Times of India. Though I was rookie in astrologer at that time, I started visiting him just because of overall wisdom and erudition. Once during the casual conversation, he said the following: "Astrology is as much art as it is science. It is this element of art in it that make us see the things through an artistic lens. This is not to suggest that the artistic lens make you see things that are imaginary. It is just that the artistic lens make us see the things that are not obvious. It enables us to tear the facade that humans perceive as reality. It empowers us to see the core. In this sense, it is very similar to art. "The problem arises when people try to vitiate it because of commercial reasons. The commercial reasons distort astrology and people come out with equally distorted reasons to justify their actions. The underlying reasons for which astrology has been devised by our great rishis and munis are just defeated when commerce becomes the overriding factor." Please remember here that the aforesaid astrologer was not against professional astrologers. He was simply saying that like any other professions, in astrology, we can't afford the commerce to rule the roost. Against the aforesaid conversation, I am simply praying and hoping that there was no commercial reasons behind banning Bhaskar. I would again request people at the helm do not ban members who had good of astrology at their heart, albeit a wee bit brash and outspoken. I have been the member of this august forum eversince its inception. Whenever, such incidents take place -- active members being banned-- I am subjected to excruciating agony. As a passive member, I have seen Bhaskar helping one and all in this group. Mind you, I haven't taken a help from Bhaskar till this point. My comments are very objective. I fully concur with the views of other members that this is an international forum and anybody who adheres to the basic civility can become its member. In case of Bhaskar and the other member, the anger of Bhaskar, in my opinion, was because of the latter's uncouth question. Bhaskar, being a bit short-tempered, flared, and wrote the acrimonious mail. Having said so, Bhaskar's good will in this group, his noble intentions, and his astrological acumen can't be questioned. I have known Tanvir for long and his maturity is beyond doubt. Neeraj was his right hand and whenever he was given the responsibility, he did a good job. We got to remember that the job of the moedrator is to facilitate communications on the group and not ban people without giving any warning. I had ignored the thread for a long time. However, I thought that I should at least post my views if I have good intentions for the group owner, and for this group. I very emphatically want to request to everybody involved in this incident to not to judge my intentions. I also feel that there could be a financial angle to the entire act of banning It is a shame that people can stoop so low as to ban a colleague just because he might prejudice the business interest of some one. Guest guest
Dear members, If Mr. Ashutosh has some self respect he should quit moderatorship on his own after all this hue and cry. Guest guest
The journalist in Manoj is evident from such a wonderfully written post. I "ditto" his views regarding banning members. Unless some procedures are followed a numbers of members with dissenting opiniions will soon find themselves banned! Urgent intervention of Tanvirji needed.
