Guest guest
I had an experience with a tomato I forgot to tell you about. So after reading Anastasia's first book, where she talked about how plants really grow to serve us, I have been seeing all food differently. At work people bring in their garden food that they have grown to share with other people. So there was this big, red ripe tomato sitting all day long. No one would take it because it had a bad spot on the top. So I walked by it probably six or eight times and began to feel sorry for it. I was thinking how sad it would be if no one ate it, if no one fulfilled it's fondest desire. So, I finally picked it up and said to it, "I will eat you poor tomato, I will fulfill your heart's desire." I brought the beautiful tomato with the bad spot home and stuck it in the fridge. It sat for a week, I kept saying I would eat it, but I kept forgetting to get the food for the recipe I wanted to cook. I kept looking to see if it had rotted yet. Each time I looked it said, "NO, I am just waiting patiently for you." Then I rememberd to buy the plantain and a big red onion so I could make my recipe. Then the plantain sat on the table for three more days. Finally it was time to either eat the food or throw it away. The plantain was ready to eat and the tomato was too. As I peeled the tomato skin which was easy to peel because it was so ripe, I talked to the tomato again, I said how happy I was to have it with me and how beautifully red and juicy it was. I told it that I was so grateful that it had come into my life. I chopped the onion and heated the oil for frying. I put the spices in the hot oil and added the onion and there was the big sizzle sound I love. Then I smooshed the tomato between my fingers into the pot, and everything cooked for awhile. I added my other ingredients, fried plantain, rice and some water. What a wonderful taste this food had. I mean it was spectacular. The flavor was perfect and it felt good going down into my body. I felt energized and again thanked the tomato. Om Namashivaya - In Amma's service, Supriti Omenka Nnadi
