Dear Shri Nagaraja,

I am sad to note that the native is dumb since birth. I remember making some notes about combinations for dumbness.

I have noted down two combinations:

(1) If lord of 2nd & Mercury combine in the 6th House, the native will be born dumb.

(2) 3rd Lord & Lagnadhipathi combine, then native will be dumb.

Lagna for the native is Libra and Rasi is Aquarius.

3rd Lord is Jupiter and Lagnadhipathi is Venus combined in the 10th house in the chart.

I wish there is a remedy. Hope to hear from learned Gurus and members regarding this.

Dear David,

There should be more to the 2nd combination you mention for dumbness. I have Gemini lagna and 3rd lord Sun and lagnathipati Me conjunct in 6th house. I don't think anyone will consider me dumb.

Dear Nagaraj

I am a amature astrologer and trying to enhance my knowledge in this field. So prediction by me may not be correct. But i try.

Its clear from the horoscope that person may have problem regarding throat/speech. But i cant say why he is having problem for so many years.

The young boy is 15 years old. He may be in 9th or 10th standard. So too young to choose a profession. But i see that he is very much inclined to be a Doctor ?

Sir Andrew has already explained for speech problem. I just want to add one more line that Jupiter (lord of 6th house) is aspecting 2nd house too.

Dear Nagaraja,

According to me following are the reasons for the problem:

1. Second lord Kuja is afflicted by both 6th lord as well as 8th

lord by conjunction. In addition, it is aspected by Sani and

aspected by Rahu as well (in terms of longitudes)

2. Budha, the karaka for speech is afflicted by badhaka Ravi

3. The same 6th lord and 8th lord which afflict 2nd lord, also

afflict both Ravi and Chandra by Rasi drishti. As Both Ravi and

Chandra are afflicted, one could say that the defect exisits

since birth.

As the upcoming MD lords Guru and Sani are also involved in

creating the problem, I suspect that there won't be improvement

in the near future.

I am not good at remedies. You may get response from the other

learned people on the list.

Om Shri Gurave Namah:

Dear Members,

As per medical norms a deaf native must be dumb also,

because hearing develops the speech. So if the native

is dumb he must be having hearing trouble also.

Astrologically Jupiter is the karaka for all daises

concerning ear. Mercury is Karaka for all troubles

concerning speech. Therefore for deaf and dumb,

Jupiter and Mercury both be afflicted. Again 2nd and

3rd house and Taurus and Gemini sign rule over right

ear. and while 12th and 11th house and Aquarius and

Pisces rule over left ear. When these above houses and

their lords, karaka and signs are afflicted one

suffers from the diseases of ear and tongue. Now

examine the chart.

The Lagna is Libra an airy sign and aspected by Mars.

Mars is Maraka and Sun is badhak for the Lagna. Dasha

at the time of birth was Mars/Mon/Merc. Mars aspects

the Moon also.Mars is debilitate but gets cancellation

due to exalted Jupiter but conjoins Venus deadly

enemy.In D/9 again occupy the Venus sign. So Mars is

malefic for the Lagna.The Lord of 2nd house is Mars

and lord of 3rh is Jupiter. Jupiter in navamsh occupy

Mars sign Scorpio with Rahu and Moon in 6th house.So

Jupiter is also afflicted.Mercury is posited in 8th

house with Sun in Taurus, the 11th Lord.The lord of

12th is again Mercury. We find that sign Taurs,

Gemini, Pisces.Aquarius,2nd, 3rd, 11th and 12th

houses and their lords and karaka Jupiter and Mercury

are afflicted. The dasha at the time of birth is of

malefic planets,so the native has congenital ailment.

Till the dasha of Rahu gets finished the period of

development of organ gets finished. According to me

there is no astrological remedy as per my knowledge,

is effective. The speech therapyand/or surgery if

advised can help as 3rd lord Jupiter is in exaltation

and in kendra, no malefic planet, Saturn is retrograde

and goes to 3rd,aspects him, Saturn is yoga karaka for

the lagna in own sign but debilitated in D/9. After

Rahu's dasha the dasha of jupiter will start.

Dear Shri. Nagaraja:

2nd lord indicating speech - Jupiter is conjunct debilitated Mars

and Venus in the 9th house. Venus is the lord of the 7th and 12th

houses and Mars is the lord of lagna and also the 6th house.

Jupiter is also the lord of the 5th house indicating poorvapunya.

Their dispositor Moon is in the star of Rahu which is in the 2nd

house. All these indicate some karmic block resulting in speech

block and if my assessment is right, there are no physical defects

resulting in this inability of the native.

The native could benefit by chanting of "Vaak sooktham" by expert

pandits on his behalf. Chanting of "Saraswathy Sahasranaamam" for 1

mandala will also be auspicious. Performing special worship to

Maatangi Devi can aid in attaining speech. Chanting the following

mantra on Lord venkatesa will help this native:

"Om Mooka Vaak Dhaana nipuno pangu paada pradaayakah

kaana druk paata vakaro vyangah saangah phalapradah"

There are instances from my own professional practice when natives

who have been unable to speak right from birth have benefitted after

Dear Shri. Nagaraja:

This native could benefit by recital of "Vaak sooktham" for 1

mandala by vedic experts. Along with this, chanting of "Hayagreeva

Upanishad", "Saraswathy sahasranaamam", and "Maatangi sahasranaamam"

during the said period could be highly effective in helping the

native to gain speech. A visit to Tiruchendur Murugan temple and

performing special poojas there might be of help (2nd lord is Mars;

its debilitation is cancelled; it is in conjunction with Jupiter and

Venus in the 10th house; Tiruchendur is a Jupiter sthala associated

with Lord Muruga....hence I have suggested Tiruchendur). Similarly,

a visit to Mookambika temple will also be helpful to the native.

This native or any close relative can chant the following mantra

from saraswathy sahasranaama with devotion until the native gets

speech even after the remedies as prescribed above are completed:

Dear Nagaraja,

A person's mouth is signified by the 2nd house, the dharma associated with it is since from the ninth therefrom, which is the 10th house. We see the 3rd and 6th lord(Jupiter) exalted, with a debilitated 2nd lord (Mars). Sani's retrograde aspect on this combination also harms this 10th house further. The karaka for speech mercury has associated with the badhaka lord Sun who is also the atmakaraka in the 8th house.

Since the atmakaraka is involved, remedies would include turning to the istadevata. In this case the Istadevata (12th from AK in navamsa) is represented by venus (in a male sign) having an aspect of mars (rasi dristi) in navamsa. Typically this would be Lord Parashuram.

Thank you for bringing this matter up. If not I would have concluded that the combinations given are valid. It appears that most of the combinations given in astrology books without any indication of the source of the information ought not to be taken for granted.

The combinations that I noted down is from a Tamil astrology book. I gave the combinations as stated in that book.

It is a pity that the author does not state the source of his information for us to verify.

I then went about looking for combinations for dumbness and I managed to find in Sarvartha Chinatamani, Chapter 2 on Results of the 2nd house the following paragraph:

"If the lord of the 2nd house is located in the 8th house along with Jupiter, the native is dumb. In the same manner dumbness should be predicted to father and other relations if Jupiter along with the lord of the 2nd house of the father etc. is located in their respective 8th houses."

This does not cover the problem that we took up for our study!

I have 2nd lord in 8th house. Second lord is Jupiter.

Rule satisfies. But i am not deaf and dumb.

There is nothing that is absurd in Sarvartha Chintamani. The requirement in that sloka is that ruler of the 2nd house being located in the 8th house 'along with Jupiter'. That is not satisfied in your case.

known cases.As i do not have enough knowledge to predict with

confidence dumb/deaf,i will just interpret the chart for Strength of

lagna and chandra lagna.If they are strong,other problems indications

can get diluted.

In this case there is a heavy affliction to lagna.

1)Mars - Maraka is with Lagna lord

2)Guru functional malefic and Rogesh is with lagna lord.

3)Mars Maraka is aspecting lagna

4)Shani natural malefic is aspecting lagna

5)Mars a Maraka and natural malefic is having NAVAMSHA in LAGNA(Libra).

6)Chandra has neecha navamsha in Vachasthana

7)Maraka Mars is aspecting Chandra

8)Guru functional malefic and rogesh is not only aspecting 2nd,but

having navamsha there.

9)Dispositor of chandra ,shani has neecha navamsha

10)Dispositor of mercury,in this case shukra is with maraka and

functional malefic Guru.Guru is Maraka from Chandra as well.

11)Karaka for 2nd Guru is with Maraka.

Thus we can see role of Mars as Maraka influencing

lagna/lagnalord/chandra through rashi and navamsha sambandhas.Role of

functional malefic Guru is also visible.

Positive factor is exaltation of Guru as a natural benefic and its

Respeted Sir Tatvam Asi ji and David Andrews Ji

I have two horoscope.

1) The first horoscope has Exalted Jupiter with moon in 10th house.

2) Second person has 7 planets in exalted or in its own house state.

And they both are living very mediocre life.

I rarely saw classical planetary combination working.

Including my case where i do have 7 out of 9 planets in 6 or 8 or 12th house. According to classicals when planets are in"trik-bahava" person should be a beggar, criminal and many more things.

What can i say more ?

Would you please kind enough to provide the chart of those people who are dumb. I would like to put them in my archive.

I would like to check their deumbness according to the rule i.e. "2nd lord and jupiter in 8th make a person dumb."

I am an ardent follower of astrology and i believe that astrology is science if there is no "replicability" of a rule then its useless.

Consider a case

Lagna - Sagitarius.

Lagna lord - Jupiter

2nd lord - saturn

They both are in cancer.

They will stay here together for 1 year. Can we say that all these people born in this year are dumb ?

Now Andrew Ji, you are saying that rule does not satisfy in my case for being dumb. Because Jupiter is 2nd lord too.

We have concept of Yogakarka in Vedic astrology. If a planets is kendra and trikona lord then it becomes yogakarka. And single planet can give raja yoga.

Similarly, Jupiter in my case a yogakarka (read it as "dumb-karka") for "dumbness." I believe that it has more power for making me dumb than the combination of 2nd lord and jupiter in 8th.

I hope you are able to understand which i want to communicate.

Dear Nagaraj,

Here is my perspective.

1. 2nd House is Sc. Lord Ma is debilitated and involved in the

curse of a brahmin. 8th house lord/lagnesh Ve is involved in the

curse. Cursing Malefics have both graha drishti and rasi drishti on

the cursed planet. Suffering is severe.

2. Co lord Ke is vargottama debilitated. This Ke is with AK Su in D9

in A5/A9

2. A2 lord Ju is involved in the curse.

3. Me the karaka for speech is in 8th house (opposite the 2nd house

of speech). It has Sun AK with it. These planets aspect the 10th

house where the curse occurs.

4. 2nd house hosts A6 (roga pada)

My analysis: This is a curse that is hard to be remedied. Most of

the planets are in fixed D9. The remedies lie in removing the curse

on Ju and praying to Shiva (Su with Ke) and Kali (5th house Aq with

Mo) in the form of Kamala (Ve AK).

Gurujan please comment on my analysis.

exalted Guru in 10th is capable of making a person pauper.

Father of such native may lose /squander money.

You say " I rarely say classical combinations working"

Unless you post complete birth data, it is futile to discuss a chart with just one planet.

There should be more to the 2nd combination you mention for dumbness. I have Gemini lagna and 3rd lord Sun and lagnathipati Me conjunct in 6th house. I don't think anyone will consider me dumb.

Respected list members,

The topic of discussion is nice. But I am sorry to

write that some time we instead of under standing each

other.we start condemning each other, that can no be

appreciated. The difference of opinion between two

intelligent and independent learned person is must.So

I would like to request the list members to put their

views free and frankly but do not condemn each other.

All of you intelligent, learned and respectful.We

should refrain ourselves from condemning classic

principles with our little knowledge with out going

through number of charts ad other conditions.

(1) In my opinion, any good yoga is effective only

when it takes place in an auspicious house and is

aspected by a natural benefic planet but not

conjuncted or aspected by a malefic planet. This is

primary condition for all yogas.

(2) We should judge the chart, particularly of

children,from Moon also.

(3)I am of the opinion that a retrograde planet is

powerful to give his results, malefic planet give

malefic results more strongly and benefic planet

planet can not protect the Jeeva but gives material

only.

(4) The chart of 4th June,1991, has Saturn in 4th in

own sign forming Sasa yoga, but is retrograde and

aspected by debilitated Mars. Jupiter in 10th cancer

sign forms Hans yoga but conjoins with 8th lord Venus

and 12th lord Mercury. If we see the chart from the

Moon, Saturn is in 12th and Jupiter is in 6th both the

trik houses. So both yoga are in-effective.

(5) I have already said in my early email that dumb

child must be deaf also. Therefore 2nd and 3rd, 11th

and 12th and their lord must be afflicted. the karaka

for deaf and dumb is Mercury and Jupiter. All are

afflicted in the above chart

(6) In Libra lagna chart dated 30-5-1979, Jupiter is

in 10th Cancer sign and conjoin with Moon and forming

Hansa Yoga and Gaj Kesari yoga. But 2nd lord Mars is

posited in 7th with Venus,enemy and 8th lord and 3rd

lord Jupiter is aspected by Mars, 11th lord Sun and

12th lord Mercury is posited in 8th and aspected by

Saturn that carry the effect of Rahu and Ketu also.The

Karaka Mercury and Jupiter are afflicted. From Moon

the above houses are afflicted.

(7) The chart dated 13-4-1984, Cancer lagna,Saturn is

exalted in 4th forming Sasa yoga but is retrograde.

The Saturn afflicts 3rd house and 2nd lord Sun,11th

house is occupied by Rahu,being retrograde planet

afflicts 12th also and 12th lord Mercury is also

retrograde conjoin Rahu and aspected by retrograde

Mars also. Mercury and Jupiter are afflicted.

Therefore the result of deaf and dumb.

(8) So far as Jupiter and 2nd lord in 8th is concern,

I am not able to locate the chapter and shloka. In 8th

chapter and shloka 56 he has taken only "Aadhan Lagna"

not birth lagna,one has to see with reference to

context. So far as Sarvarth Chintamani book i

concerned it is an authenticated book and commented by

various authors. So we can not dismiss the shloka with

out discussion.

Hello,

First I dont see the two Mahapurusha Yoga mentioned, the only one

that I see is the exalted Jupiter in the 10th , the Yoga does not

manifest as the dispostor Moon is debilated in D9(Navamsa).

Speech Problems are due to the badly placed Mercury the general

signifactor of speech and the affliction of Rahu to the 3rd of

communication along with ketus afflcition to the Lagna. Additionaly

he is in the Rahu Mahadasha.

Speech is represented by 2nd house, Mercury and Venus. For moveable

sign 11th lord is Bhadhakesh, in the instant case Sun is a condemned

Bhadhakesh as it is the dispositer for Gulika.One of the Speech karak

Mercury is afflicted because of its conjunction with Sun and posited

in the 8th house;Bhadhakesh Sun aspects and afflicts 2nd house. Venus

also afflicted by the conjunction of 6th lord Guru and malefic Mars

besides the aspect of the 22nd Drekkana lord Sani.

I opine ,above are the reasons that could be attributed to the

dumbness of the native.
