There is nothing to be pained about seeing Idols being immersed this way.

Once proper Uthhapanam is done, the idol is sans the Devata in it. You can equate it to a human body minus the soul.

So please stop being PAINED AND SHOCKED.

I too am pained to see the idols of Lord Ganesh, Maa Durga and other godesses being immersed in the rivers the way they are. First we worship them for days and then immerse them the way it is mostly seen done?!!!!!! Lord Vishwakarma idols are "dumped" under trees a day before the next puja after keeping it for a year in the factory premises. Is it not disgraceful? Do we give a moments thought before doing so. I was disgusted to see dogs using these for the purpose they normally do any elivated object they find to mark territory!!!! Who is responsible for this desecretion of the idol? The dog or those people who placed the idol there? What possible logic could be behind this practice? Is the power or Blessings of one "Murti" only limited for one year?

I have deviated from the norm and have kept a framed picture of Lord Vishwakarma in my workshop and I worship the same every year. My employees too are happy with not having to discard the picture of the God they worship throughout the year. It has been more than ten years now. For the same reason I have never attended "Visarjan" of any God / Goddess even though I worship them like anyone else going to the pandals during Puja.

Sir,

Have seen the video. i am not much knowledgable on matters of pollution.

but do not confirm to the standards of immersion,as seen in the video.

Throwing the idol face down, I somehow dont approve. Even the catholics

lay down their loved ones in the grave in a more respectful manner.

The immersion should actually be done slowly with the feet going first

in the water, and then other parts of the body like we take a dubki

(Dip) in holy matters. But here benefit of doubt has to be given, cause

the way I mentioned may not be possible to do,considering the size of

the idols. Anway they are devotees so I wil not comment and incur wrath

of the Gods. At least they are doing something, not like people like me

sitting in the comfort of their rooms, and commenting.

That was a honest appraisal from me.

regards,

Bhaskar.
