Guest guest
It is seen that the file honey.pps stored in files section speaks about many important conditions except diabetes. In earlier posts, author has indicated that honey is not harmful for diabetics if taken in moderate amount. Cinnamon and honey go well together. The efficacy of Cinnamon in diabetes has been now evaluated scientifically. A German study evaluated 79 subjects with type-2 diabetes. All of them managed their condition with either diet or oral drugs. The researchers randomly divided the volunteers into two groups. One took 112 mg of a cinnamon extract (three times daily) or a placebo. The extract was equivalent to about three grams of cinnamon powder per day. The results showed that cinnamon reduced fasting blood glucose by 10.3%. Best of all, those with the highest glucose levels at the start of the study saw the greatest benefit. The researchers recommend a cinnamon extract over the powder. It's difficult to eat enough powdered cinnamon to make a substantial difference in your blood sugar problems. One more reason given is unfortunately, some extracts contain oils that many people are allergic to. So try aqueous (water) extracts instead. They don't contain oil, are completely safe, and should give you the results you want. According to author of this post, we should take every herb or its part as offered by God. Honey will take care of making cinnamon more acceptable to body. Author urges diabetics to take honey (1 tsp) and cinnamon powder(1/2 tsp) mixed and licked about 20 minutes before food/breakfast so that three times a day. This is known to reduce stomach acidity, but effects on diabetes are yet to be evaluated to the best of author's knowledge. Those who are afraid of honey, may soak cinnamon pieces overnigh in a cup of water and take only water in morning before breakfast, and 30 minutes before lunch and dinner. [Kavashia is one such bark well known for diabetes control. IT is also taken as "soaked water" only.] Post your experience for benefit of all. Do not change your lifestyle or food contents. Compare 13 hour fasting glucose before and a fortnight after starting honey and cinnamon powder. Note change in freshness, energy levels, digestion, elimination, sleep, urination change etc. Let this be a collection of experience of ayurveda diabetic members.
