Guest guest
How about saving the Vedas, Upanishads Gita? All our libraries/books were burnt by invaders, if it werent for Brahmins, they would have been lost. Different Brahmins learnt different books by heart, and thats how most of our scriptures survived.
Guest guest
I found this excellent articles on why Brahmins wear Janayeu. The Jahanvi is always wore from left shoulder down to right waist. Kings, soldiers etc also wear their swords/Rifles left to right. A sword carries authority of the person wearing it, similarly the Jahanvy carries the spiritual authority of the person wearing it, which is necessary for path of Gyan. The Jahanvi is tied with 3 knots, to signify the 3 Knots(granthis) a person has to pierce to reach God- Brahma,Vishnu and Rudra Granthi. The Jahanvi makes the Right side of the body predominant(the right side signifies path of Gyan, as Pingala Nadi runs on right side of body). By placing it on left shoulder, a person can harness the Energy(Shakti) stored there. Women dont have to wear Jahanvi, as they already embody shakti. The Jahanvi can be worn by anyone seriously walking the path of Gyan Yoga, not just those born in Brahmin family.
