BIRATNAGAR, Aug. 9: Hindus of the eastern regions of Nepal have demanded public holiday on the occasion of Radha-Krishna Chariot festival.

 

The religious procession that is organised in Biratnagar a day after the birthday of Lord Krishna ShreeKrishna Janamasthi which is celebrated by all Hindus here in a grand manner. They argue that this day has been established as an important festival for the Hindus all over the Nepalese kingdom.

 

The chariot procession of the Lord Krishna started in 1989. Since the festival is being celebrated with mass participation of people. The grand chariot procession is being celebrated in 2025 B.S., said chairman of the Shree Radhakrishna Chariot Procession ceremony Committee-2063, Surya Bahadur Basnet.

 

The devotees from various parts of India including Bihar and West Bangal also participate in the holy religious procession.

 

A 25-member 'Shree Radhakrishna Sobha Chariot Committee-2063' has already been constituted under the chairmanship of acting chairman Surya Bahadur Basnet in order to celebrate the festival in a splendid manner on the first of Bhadra.
