Vedic Mathematics is a technique based on 16 formulae extracted from Indian scriptures using which complex mathematical calculations can be done very fast in simple steps without the help of a calculator. Swami Bharati Krishna Tirtha, the revered Shankaracharya (Abbot) of Puri in India, himself a Masters in Mathematics, demystified the technique in the 1950's. It has taken the world by storm since then. Dr S N Padiyar MBBS, a proponent of VM technique is the Instructor. After a 28 year medical career in his home town, the doctor has dedicated his life for propagation of this technique. He has conducted more than 200 workshops and 500 lectures on the technique all over India and in USA and UK. He has published a book 'Maths with Joy' on the VM technique. After a series of his 35 workshops in USA, VM was introduced as a subject in one of the colleges under New York University and his text book was adopted as the study material. The response to the VM Workshop has been truly overwhelming. About 170 children have registered for the 3 day workshop. Workshop will be held in 3 batches for children and 1 batch for teachers, parents and general public. For children of Birla Public School, the session will be held at the school itself on September 9, 10 & 11, 4pm to 6pm. For children from other schools, two sessions have been arranged at Ideal Indian School, on September 12, 13 and 14, 4.30 to 6.30pm and 7.30 to 9.30pm. He was the Co-Editor of a book under the same name. He will speak on India's Science and Technology Heritage. Prizes for quiz competition winners and certificates for Vedic Mathematics Workshop participants will be given away at the function.
