Even today, he is not that well. Moreover, the meaning of the slokha is obvious in itself. This is bhakti literature. It is a dhyaana slokha....dhyaana slokhaas are chanted just to remember the form of the Deity in a particular format so that there are mantrik benefits out of that. As you say, all icons have hidden esoteric meanings; but sometimes there need not be specific hidden meaning attached to slokhaas. Somehow, we tend to have a tendency of analyzing EVERYTHING by trying to break into inner meanings while in reality there may not be anything like that. Vishnu Sahasranaama is a bhakti literature, and bhakti literatures generally do not have hidden meanings as they are meant for common consumption where the common man may not be able to grasp inner meanings and hidden values! If there are hidden meanings in the icons, they are not discussed openly according to mantra shaastra tenets. It should be learnt under a competent Guru after years of selfless service at the feet of one's Guru. In spirituality, any question may be asked at anytime, but Gurujis answer the queries only when the right time comes for it! That is why Guruji has not answered the above query; Even I refrained from answering only because of this. However, now that you have brought it out, I feel I should offer minor corrections where applicable.......Blue is not the colour of sins......In mantra shaastra they have a saying "Seven is not a number and Blue is not a colour." Both stand for describing infinity. The characteristics of the Lord who is not bound by limitations of the Universe and whose expanse is INFINITE has hence taken a blue hue. The Lotus in the umblical cord of course signifies creation and the vicious cycle of birth and rebirth. Lakshmi serving Lord Vishnu is an indication that material comfort will be at the feet of one who can rise beyond all limitations of life. We hanker after money and wealth who is "Chanchala" waits for the time to run away from us; but, great spiritual masters and souls care nothing about material comfort, but what they actually require in life comes to hem automatically. "Lakshmi Kaantam" means one who attracts Lakshmi. It is a hidden message that those who wish to obtain material prosperity should worship Lord Vishnu....wherever Lord Vishnu is there, Goddess Lakshmi will also follow Him. Chanting Vishnu Sahasranaamam is known to benefit dharma, artha, kaama, and Moksha the four ends of life for many devotees. This is the gist of what I understood from Guruji's lectures which he delivered some years back. I just hope that my memory has served me right and I have conveyed the message correctly. I was expecting reply at least from respected Sh.R.Dakshnamuraty and Sh.Mohanraam. But they also did not responded due to the reasons know to them. According to me, our classic symbols and pictures are icons of spiritual computer. they have hidden meanings. As I understand the above picture, it indicates that Lord Vishu is the controller and giver of results of our Karmas (Sheshnang. All the creation(Lotus through umbilical)is due to the Karma. All the material happiness (Lakshmi at feet) is the result of our Karma. It is the basis of the Universe (Vishva adharam. His colour has become bluish due to our bd Karmas. He is the controller of the material happiness (Lakshmi kantam)and is handsome. All yogi remembers Him. He is the remover of fear of the bhav sagar. This my undertanding. one is free to differ and guide me. with thanks and warm regards Here's a new way to find what you're looking for - Answers Send FREE SMS to your friend's mobile from Messenger Version 8.
