Simple explanation is: There is no Shiva without Shakti (Gayatri is Shakti, Mother of the Vedas). By the same token, there is no Shakti without Shiva. Version with Gayatri is Classical Tantric Version; potent and brings results. Whether fast or slow results, depends on individual dharma, karma and bhakti.
