Dear friends,

I need to translate the following English words as relating

to levels of language skill into Sanskrit. I append my own

attempts, but would welcome any improvements on them.

The frame they should fit into is:

"<avyak,rtena> Sa.msk,rtena upakara.na.m sambhavati"

except for the last one which will be constructed with _asti_.

basic -- avyaak,rta

intermediate -- madhyastha

advanced -- v,rddha, siddha

near-native -- aajanmapraaya

professional -- vaarttika

native speaker -- aajanmabhaa.sit,r

I'm a bit doubtful wether _bhaa.sit,r_ is appropriate when

talking of a Sanskrit speaker, since _bhaa.saa_ normally

refers to vernacular (Prakrit) rather than Sanskrit speech.

Thanks in advance,

/BP

"Maybe" is a strange word. When mum or dad says it

it means "yes", but when my big brothers say it it

means "no"!
