Many devotees do. In my case, after a few years with Amma, my 30 year sadhana of being single and thinking I was basically a monk( which was not a problem for me ) ended in a relationship ~ an unexpected blessing from Amma. While a "monk," twenty years was devoted to my parents for the last years of their lives. This was one of my best spiritual investments. But single or in a relationship, all of life is a challenge before Awakening and giving without expecting and sacrificing( the "me" ) is what Amma recommends, I believe. I am not saying this is easy but we either believe what Amma says and try and try to live it or we don't. Spiritual practices( like meditation, jappa, devotion, etc ) are essential but not sufficient( my 2c ). One has to study and contemplate Amma's teachings, do inquiry and try to live spiritual principles as best we understand them.
