Guest guest
"As Mother says, 'Purify your mind' so that you experience that everything is happening by the Will of God. That actually you don't even exist as an individual. Only as an appearance, you appear to have existed. Just like a wave on the ocean, it seems to be separate, a separate existence, but it's nothing, it's just the ocean. Once we do this, then we'll know what is Dharma. What's right, what's wrong, what's pure, and what isn't pure. Until then, we should try to follow the guru's teachings, the teachings of the ancient tradition, and of wise people. In that way, we gradually learn what is Dharma. Otherwise people say: 'Oh, I felt like that', 'It seemed like that', 'It was a gut feeling', 'This seems right', but it's not good enough. It has to be Right according to some other standard, not one's own feelings. If one's own feelings were right, all of us would be Self-Realized mahatmas enjoying Divine Bliss. But it's not like that. And so many of us, we get into so many problems and so many troubles because of wrong feelings and wrong decisions. So that can't be what we base our life on, is our feelings. We should have some standard, which is for us, for example, Mother's teachings or Mother's example in life, or the teachings of the ancient sages that we read in the scriptures of all religions." >From a talk by Swami Paramatmananda, Cassette #31 Purity of Mind/Work as Worship (Reposted from the ammafreespeechzone list.) Yay! Just ordered the final cassettes needed of Swami P's satsang tapes to complete my set, except for the one they're out of. Although his talks are transcribed into books, I think they don't cover the entire set. It's a shame they don't sell them on tour anymore, or at least they're gone by the time they reach D.C. It would be nice to have them on CD. peace, tom
