Om Nama Shivaya,

I used attend the pradosha abishega at local shiva

temple for past 2 years but currently i am at job that

does not permit to go to temple at that period.

Therefore i plan to do small abhisega in my cubical in

the office itself. I have a copper made medidating

shiva and would like to perform milk and water

abhisega. Is this advisable to perform simple abhisega

such as this. Will there be any cnsequence if i was in

circumstances that may not allow me to perform all the

pradosha time throughout the year.

Pls advise..

Hi Jeevan:

Just a re-cap of a story I read from this group:

PUSALAR NAYANAR

Pusalar was Brahmin of Tiru Ninravur in Thondai Mandalam. He excelled

in the mental worship of the Lord. Mental worship is thousand of times

better than external ritualistic worship: mental worship soon leads to

samadhi( superconscious state) and Self-realisation. He strongly

desired to build a temple for Lord Siva, but he did not have the

money for it. So, mentally he gathered the necessary materials for the

purpose. he laid the foundation stone on an auspicious day. He raised

the temple and had even fixed an auspicious day for the installation

of the deity in it.

The Kadava King who was laso a great devotee of Lord Siva had built a

magnificent temple in Conjeevaram. By chance he had also fixed the

date which Pusalar had mentally chosen, for the installation of the

Lord in his temple. The Lord wanted to show the king the superiority

of Pusalar's great devotion. So, the Lord appeared in the king's dream

and asked him to postpone the installation ceremony in his temple, as

He would be going to the temple constructed by His devotee at tiru

Ninravur. The King woke up from sleep and was intensely eager to have

the Darshan of the devotee mentioned by the Lord and also have a look

at the great temple he had built, which he thought would be far

superior to his temple.

The king came to Tiruninravur and searched all over the place for the

temple: he could not find any. Then the king enquired about Pusalar.

He found Pusalar's house and approached him. Pusalar was stunned when

he heard of the king's dream. Soon, he recovered and was filled with

joy. he thought: "how kind and merciful is the Lord. I am only a

wretched creature and He has accepted my mental shrine as His abode. I

am really blessed". He told the king that the temple was only in his

mind. The king was greatly surprised to hear this. Admiring Pusalar's

devotion, the king fell at his feet and worshipped him. Pusalar

installed the Lord in his mental temple and continued to worship Him

till he attained His Abode.

Hello,

It was when i was in college and my dad had kicked me out that i was very angry with Mahadeva and I stopped visiting the temple of my Kuladevata Chandra Mauli which my great grand father had brought from Bhirgukacha (Broach/Bharuch) in south gujarat which today is at the Bhavans College at Munshi Nagar in Andheri (W).

As the times were testing I was also thrown out of my hostel since I flunked my exams: which was very unbeliveable as the other class mates whom I used to help out with studies managed to get by with flying colours. I got even more furious and swore out at Mahadeva and I said I am never gonna visit him again :-) The only puja I used to do then and even today is Manas Puja as my Mentor had guided me during a discussion we had while I was reading Dr. Svobodos series. Incidentally since that I was thrown out I located a place at Azad nagar in andheri west and I checked in the home of late Mr. Patankar (Lord bless his soul) and got a very funny dream.

Mahadeva came and said to me: Hey! Waasup? I was a bit dazzled and I said.. "Yeah, you can see how great I have been doing" with a sarcastic smile. He laughed and he said that in the years to come I will be very happy with the course of my destiny. Further he advised me that when you move to a new house it is customary to visit the neighbours with some gifts. And I said aha... Ok. I will do it. I woke up in the morning and forgot about my dream and just I got outside my new PG accomodation moving to college. I saw a small badminton court adjacent to my builiding and behind the court I saw a Billi tree with a small Shiva Linga and like a flash of light the memories of the Dream came back to me. The next weekend as guided by the lord I spoke to some neighbours and got some whisky for a evening party with the new found neighbours. And before we started I did an Abhisheka with milk to my New Found Neighbour :-)

Well... after that day I do know that actions count but a Manas Puja where by you just imagine the entire process and do the abhisheka in your mind also has great benefits. For I have not done 1% of what others have been doing for years. I believe that Manas puja is too a great way of worship and if you miss your regular abhisheka with panchamrut or milk or gangajal. Manas Puja should suffice.

Hope this helps :-)

Regards,

Jay
