Guest guest
All Esteemed astrolgy teachers and students, I have a question regarding moon being malefic or benefic. In some places, I have read that waxing moon is benefic (i.e. moon in the brighter lunar half) while waning moon is malefic (i.e. moon in the darker lunar half). In some other places, I have come across that brighter moon (i.e. from 8th day of bright half to 7th day of darker half) is benefic while darker moon is malefic (i.e. from 8th day of darker half to 7th day of brighter half). Please clarify. Also does it mean that in a chart moon of 14th brighter half is more benefic than 12th brighter half? Or once it is decided that moon is a benefic or malefic, then it does not matter, which day the birth takes place? Thanks Mukesh
Guest guest
Dear Prafulla ji, Thanks for the response. Can you please clarify your response in more detail? Which factor precisely determines whether Moon is Kroor or Souyma? Shubha or Ashubha- Which lagnas is Moon Shubha? Thanks Mukesh ----Original Message Follows---- Prafulla Gang <jyotish (AT) inbox (DOT) com> vedic astrology vedic astrology RE: [vedic astrology] Moon Benefic or Malefic... Mon, 28 Aug 2006 09:41:32 -0800 Dear Mukesh ji Namaskar There are two different issues. First with the fact whether Moon is Somya or Krur - which essentially depends upon its stage (what you were mentioning). Second one - is whether it is shubha or ashubha - for which Parashar has defined its functional rule for each lagna. regards / Prafulla Gang The only abnormality is the incapacity to love. > > mukesh (AT) hotmail (DOT) com > Mon, 28 Aug 2006 09:45:39 -0700 > vedic astrology > [vedic astrology] Moon Benefic or Malefic... > > All Esteemed astrolgy teachers and students, > > I have a question regarding moon being malefic or benefic. > In some places, I have read that waxing moon is benefic (i.e. moon in the > brighter lunar half) while waning moon is malefic (i.e. moon in the > darker > lunar half). > In some other places, I have come across that brighter moon (i.e. from > 8th > day of bright half to 7th day of darker half) is benefic while darker > moon > is malefic (i.e. from 8th day of darker half to 7th day of brighter > half). > > Please clarify. Guest guest
JAYA JAGANNATHA! Dear Mukesh, Namaste. The Moon phase is only one consideration, whcih is taken mainly in calculating the Shadbalas. The clue si that the closer is the Moon to Purnima, the more benefic it is, and the closer to Amavasya, the more malefic it is. However the Moon is easily influenced, so besides the Sun-Moon yoga and tithi, the conjunction, aspects and sign/nakshatra placement of the Moon is also important. This will make up the whole psychological/emotional structure of the native. Guest guest
dear gauranga, Moon is a malefic from the shashti before the new moon day till the panchami after the amavasya. Rest of the days, she is benefic. This is the inner meaning of the parasara as handed over to us by the parampara. Moon in Tarus is good for the native but is harmful to either of the parents depedning upon which half she occupies. The same results hold for the parents if she is in fall. (though reversal of the halfs for which parent will be effected takes place) No matter what is the lordship of moon, she is a malefic if she occupies 8th House. On the other hand, she is a malefic for Tarus, Aquarius and Leo. This lordship issue is finalised since you may find the exact opposite results in some texts. For eg., 8th Lordship of the moon is considered as good sometimes. Similiarly, the kendra or konadhipatya doshas can arise depending upon the moon being a natural benefic or malefic. Of course, this can be taken only as an indication and can not be taken as the final word, in the absence of reading the whole chart. Hope this helps, Kishore patnaik
