Nakshatra query

Gurujan, First I'd like to apologize for a message I had sent for a

second time concerning my family. It is sent as a forward message and

I did not mean to send it again. Please just do not pay attention to

it. Also, can some one please give an explanation of the nakshatras,

each one of them please. I am trying to learn astrology and I cannot

get books right now, so I am trying to learn the best way I can.

Hi Asher,

 

There are 27 nakshatras and a book could be written on each one of them.

It would help everyone a great deal if you deepened your background on

the study of jyotish. You would better understand how much you are asking

for in what may seem like a very innocent or simple question. They're not.

For excellent information on the nakshatras, please pick up a copy of Light

on Life by Hart de Fouw. For a good on-line source of information, I refer

you to Joni Patry's website, an excellent astrologer:

Focus on understanding the nakshatra of your Ascendant

and Moon and then you can expand your study of your other planets and

their nakshatra placements. But please do more background reading so

you know more of what's involved when you unknowingly asked about

some of these huge areas of study as if nothing could be simpler to

answer. Your naiveté is charming but it sounds as if your studies have

no real foundation to build on, and not everything of quality can be

found on-line. Invest in some good texts. "The Astrology of the Seers"

by David Frawley is another good introduction but it has no information

on the nakshatras. I'm sure others can suggest some good Indian texts

as well. Wishing you success in your studies.
