Guest guest
Dear Ryaz, I will not give you any ayurvedic advise here. I am not a doctor. I am just a thyroid patient myself, and I can tell you wich are the steps to take in the begining.I live in USA. Sometimes TSH is of no value what so ever> lots of good thyroid doctors do not care for it. They go by the symptoms and some other tests. Plus, the board of endocrinologists revised the "normal limits " recently, and many doctors are not aware about that. lots of women with all "normal" thyroid tests are actually hypothiroid and they have good results under allopat thyroid medication or ayurvedic treatment. The reliable tests are Free T3 free T4 and thyroid antibodies. Free T3 and Free T4 mean the available thyroid hormones, the ones that the body can actually use. If the doctors looked for total T3 or T4 , that again is of no value as they show the total thyroid hormone in the body ( available and binded). This test will also show if the body converts properly the T4 into T3 which will point the way to take for the future medication. Some patients can have plenty of T4 and normal TSH and they can show low T3 which is the "active" hormone, the one that will do the actual job. Then is the Thyroid Antibody test that will show if your Mom has or not an autoimune disease, which means that the body is ataccking the thyroid and killing it.This might be the cause for abnormal cells found at biopsy. These are reliable tests and then the doctor must go by the symptoms. If your Mom has cold feet, cold hands, depressed, thinning hair, low blood pressure, scally skin on her legs, most probably she is hypothiroid, which means low thiroid function or can be both thyroid and adrenals. You can just type in a searching engine "hypothyroid symptoms" or "hyperthyroid symptoms"and find out what s about. If she has an autoimune disease the thyroid can swing from hypothyroid to hiperthyroid making things even more confusing. Feel free to write me again, I ll share with you my knowledge. Be aware that not many medical doctors know a lot about the latest research in the thyroid field so you have to find a good one. It is very good she had a biopsy done, and is no suspicion of cancer. Even with the right allopat thyroid treatment the nodules usually stop growing or even receed. But if the nodule grows it has to be removed because it can afect breathing. As soon as you know exactly what s going on, ayurveda will be a very good way to take to cope with the disease. If it is Hypothyroidism the heart must be strenghned. If is hyper the thyroid has to be pacified. All the best to you and your Mom, Maria --- Riyaz Nazimudheen <riyazn (AT) hotmail (DOT) com> wrote: > Hello everybody, > I am writing this mail for my mother. she is having > a swelling in the neck, > mainly in the region of the thyroid. She consulted an > allopathic doc and > underwent laboratory tests. the results are,
