I joined this group in late > 2002 and always enjoyed Keval posts. Is this due to > upbringing of Western people in Abrahamic religions > (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) where everyone is > self righteous and no tolerance for other religions. >From my limited observations I have also noted that Indians at Amma's programs seem more laid-back and accepting of other paths.. where i have seen pompous, arrogant "my sadhana is better than your sadhana" snobs, it's almost always the westerners. In her book "Holy Cow" Aussie journalist Sarah Macdonald noted much the same while visiting Amritapuri, calling Amma's western devotees "pious and precious". At Kripalu back in the days, Yogi Desai's devotees were 99% westerners, with an over-representation of non-practicing Jews (myself included) who seemed to take pride in never having been to synagogue since their Bar or Bat Mitzvah.. the few native-born Hindu Indians who did go to Kripalu would say something along the lines that the Americans were more Indian than the Indians. but the Abrahamic religions haven't cornered the market on intolerance.. after all it wasn't a Muslim who shot Gandhi or who tried to stab Amma.. not to mention the Hindu boy scouts of the RSS who want to turn India into a Hindu theocracy almost as much as Gee Dubya wants the USA to become the CSA (Christian States of America). > > > Keval you are doing excellent job, and I should > also confess that Canadian Football league sucks > compared to NFL. > > Thanks to everyone for your votes of confidence.. you know, I have always been a CFL fan.. three-down, 110-yard field variety of football was always more fun to watch than the NFL.. but this season the quality of play in the CFL has really been thrown for a loss.. too many boring and poorly-played games.. am actually looking forward to the start of the NFL season on Sept. 10th.. though I am geographically required to root for the futile Buffalo Bills!
