Guest guest
Perhaps we all could submit suggestions for new guidelines for this group before it gets too bad? 1. I personally don't mind Limited Discussion of other guru's, but extended ones should be stopped by the moderator and directed offlist. See #2. 2. This is a Discussion Satsang, not a Bhajan Satsang (i.e. "prayer group"), so there's bound to be some over-lapping of guru's and religion because many people have affection for more than just Amma. So the comparison of the Catholic Church not talking of other guru's etc doesn't hold, because I'm sure their discussion groups bring it up. Again, limited and related points should be shared, not googly-eyed talk which should be elsewhere. 3. I personally DON'T LIKE quoting other guru's even some famous ones HERE on THIS LIST, because it can create mis-direction or misunderstanding of Amma's teachings. If it's kept within context or very specifically Bhakti-related it's not so bad, but I try to avoid it. In Sw. Krishna's book when she took Sannyas vows and asked Amma how she could change herself, Amma recommended reading Her books. But, personally I feel that Amma's teachings are only the "Beginning of Wisdom" and as Amma has said, it's not Her job to tell us everything, that some things need to be learned on our own (my take: Do sadhana!). No Amma-Bible Thumpers please! 4. For rules regarding personal attacks, I don't like to see "personalized overly opinionated" attacks. That is, postings that are over-the-top, and only based on "I just thinkI just believe", etc. My so-called "attacks" against Dayamrita are based on Facts against a Public Official, or the local satsang. Both Dayamrita and The Locals have Consistently used Political Tactics, and I was attempting to do the same by discussing them here. With Great Power comes Great Responsiblity, and to Whom much is Given, much is Expected. Debate the facts, not the debaters and we all benefit regardless of how much we don't want to face certain issues. If someone were having certain bonafide issues about their local Amma satsang, I'd like to hear about it. Not that I'd necessarily get involved, per Dharma, but open communication can prevent harmful manipulation by leadership (a previous problem in the DC area). tom
