Guest guest
ONS I know there is someone who goes on tour with Amma who gives these readings, and some on this list have mentioned a few others. Are these done by hand? Or Computer? How do you know who would be best for you to go to for a reading? Also how much $ is appropriate, as fee for such a reading? Guest guest
Prasannan does readings when Amma comes and sometimes in between. does calculations by computer and keeps your file so that when you return he can checke up your last reading. He charges $50 for 1/2 hour which is usually plenty unless you have loads of questions. He's adequate, not great, in my opinion. I went to him twice and really wondered why I went back the second time. He'll tell you what gem to wear to tone down the bad stuff in your chart and he'll sell it to you also. He'll tell you about pujas you can have done (at Amritapuri) to lighten ill effects of nasty transits. I felt a little bit like I was being guided around the Amma mall. As far as depth or intuition--two things you can experience with Vedic readings, these were not there. Guest guest
Several years ago I had readings from two different vedic astrologers within a year of each other (not Prasannan). In both cases their predictions were incorrect. I have no idea if I don't have the correct birth time or what. Both astrologers said my health would improve when I entered my Mercury Dasha in 1999. It didn't. Another astrologer I know uses a different approach to Vedic Astrology - and he said Mercury would not be a good period. Great! I'm supposed to be homeless during Ketu and croak in Venus. Gives me a lot to look forward to! Guest guest
If Parashakti created the planets, then it is She who controls their spin, and their effect upon Her Children. Guest guest
Oh my Prasadini! It was mentioned that Amma has said that now Vedic Astrology was something like 70% accurate. My take on it even with western astrology, is that once we are working with the Guru, our karma for this incarnation is now fast forward...so that we can clear it up. I have heard Gurunath say that we can work on all of the Karma for this incarnation, and then pull down any future Karmas to work out while we are here. So maybe that is why we should not put much weight on this anymore. As I was chanting the LS last night, I had the feeling that this was enough as far as anything that might be a discordant influence in our lives, be it human or planetary. Is there a need to worry about such things as pujas? Maybe just for special worship? I just recently participated in Kurnamayi's 7 Homas in a row!!! Wow, that was great if you ever have the chance to do that. And I know that a Homa is excellent for personal healing as well as purifying all of the elements in the atmosphere and in helping others in the neighboring environment in purification. Guest guest
Some jyotisha don't like to tell everything they see, because it's hard to be the bearer of bad news. It can be difficult to find a comfortable way to tell some things. Amma has said that prayer and grace can mitigate certain karmas, even stuff apparently carved onto your chart. My experience has been with Her tour astrologers that they suggest taking shelter with Her when stuff is particularly challenging. I liked best my very first astrology reading ever, which was Western, because it was incredibly insightful about all of my deep psychological patterns. Nothing since has been quite as revelatory. It's just useful to pay attention to where planets are transiting through your houses and what aspects they are shedding on your "natal" chart. Few can predict with any certainty - things could go this way or that way. But if you're paying attention yourself, you'll learn your own reactions to certain cosmic triggers. For example, I always get a lot of energy when any planet passes over four or six specific points in my chart. Mars here does this, Venus there does that, Jupiter always expands the energy, whether for good or for bad, the Moon brings an emotional cast, etc. etc. Whatever planets rule your ascendant and your Moon signs, and maybe the house that your Sun is in, will probably be most noticeable in your awareness of their effects "in transit." Saturn will be giving you messages about karma and discipline and structure. At least that's what I've figured out over the last dozen years of studying my stars. Good luck. Amma bless. Guest guest
Dear Brothers and Sistters Astrology in fact is not always accurate as posted , especially once individual is with Guru , things are not always maybe what they normaly would )) . I have been this year to both Amma's Sri Karunamayi and Ammachi. After Homa with Sri Karunamayi I felt like a whirlpool of changes was happening while sitting in front of the fire I could see and feel as if everything was taking on dramatic turns , and ofcourse the minute I got home dramatic changes started to take place , Ammachi told me She would put me in Her special prayer after this more events are unfolding . Having sad that who knows what is in store for us with Gurus grace even planets can change the infulence on once life. namaste, joanna > > Oh my Prasadini! > > It was mentioned that Amma has said that now Vedic > Astrology was something like 70% accurate. > > My take on it even with western astrology, is that > once we are working with the Guru, our karma for this > incarnation is now fast forward...so that we can clear > it up. > > I have heard Gurunath say that we can work on all of > the Karma for this incarnation, and then pull down any > future Karmas to work out while we are here. > > So maybe that is why we should not put much weight on > this anymore. > > As I was chanting the LS last night, I had the feeling > that this was enough as far as anything that might be > a discordant influence in our lives, be it human or > planetary. > > Is there a need to worry about such things as pujas? > > Maybe just for special worship? > > I just recently participated in Kurnamayi's 7 Homas in > a row!!! Guest guest
Namah Shivaya Stacee, I've been told that the guru speeds up our karma. Karma is really difficult to understand!. I did the Karunamayi Homas last month, and I do it every year that I am physically able. It was really nice. Then a few days later I crashed. Karunamayi has that effect on me. I've also done many pujas and homas through the Amma.org web site - tons of them, in fact. We never really know what happens as a result of the Guru taking our karma, or pujas, etc. I was once told by a person that they could tell a difference right away when a puja was done, but I've never been able to do that. Then, of course so much of astrology is dependent upon the skill and bias of the astrologer, and the correct birth time. I am aware of many internal changes after being with Mother and Karunamayi this summer, and I that's where it's really at anyway So it would figure that if the guru takes on our karma, we do spiritual practices, participate in pujas, etc for many years that maybe after a while astrology becomes moot. I don't know. That would be a question for a jyotish who is also a serious sadak. But there is still the matter of parabda karma - that which we come into this life with that cannot be taken away no how. The guru can take away as much as She/He can, and we have to complete the rest. And about homas - at the Devi Mandir in Napa they are doing a 3 year homa. It is just in the next valley from us (we live in Sonoma) so I figure we are really lucky. There is a small ashram here in town that does homas during the fall and spring Navaratris. It's gotta be really pure around here! Jai Ma! Guest guest
Namah Shivaya Prashanti, It's interesting that you are able to observe the influence of the different planets as they go through your natal chart. I have been able to do this to a limited extent. I don't know if this would take into account the different dashas and sub periods (I've pretty much forgotten more Jyotish than I ever knew, which wasn't much.) I'm under the impression that Western astrology focuses more on our personalities and psychological issues and Jyotish is better at predicting. But then I have had Western readings that differed greatly, according to the bent of the astrologer. Jai Ma!
