Guest guest
Kill out all sense of separateness. Do not fancy you can stand aside from the bad man or the foolish man. They are yourself, though in a less degree than your friend or your master. But if you allow the idea of separateness from any evil thing or person to grow up within you, by doing so you create karma which will bind you to that thing or person till your soul recognizes that it cannot be isolated. Remember that the sin and the shame of the world are your sin shame; for you are part of it; your karma is inextricably interwoven with the great karma. And before you can attain knowledge you must have passed though all places, foul and clean alike. Therefore, remember that the soiled garment you shrink from touching may have been yours yesterday, may be yours tomorrow. And if you turn with horror from it, when it is flung upon your shoulders, it will cling more closely to you. -From Light On The Path by Mabel Collins
Guest guest
What a beautiful and poetic reminder of our connection- all of us- to each other. Once many years ago in Santa Fe I was in the very long darshan line (this was long before there were tokens given) - There was a big strong man in the line who was wearing a black leather Hell's Angels jacket and cussing and yelling very loudly. It was a little scary. Some people were wondering if he should be escorted out. It appeared from what I could see that some folks went up and asked Amma. I wasn't close enough to hear anything for sure, but she never stopped smiling and whenever the big man yelled and cussed and caught her attention she gave a big laugh of delight like someone would seeing and greeting an old old friend. Part of me was a little scared- I would never want any harm to come to anyone, but I also was really rooting for this man to make it to Amma's lap.. Well, and for those who have seen our Mother, it probably comes as no surprise, he did make it up to her. And when he did, once in her lap, the tears came down his face. She then motioned him to sit close by. And he did, quietly and with strength and dignity. Things can go all kinds of directions in our world- and I have seen many different scenarios around our Amma, but this story has always stayed with me. thank you ananthashree for reminding me to turn toward my brothers and sisters. amen and jai ma!
