Guest guest
Lyrics and translation below. Hindi corrections welcomed. I'll upload the audio sample later, as my usual net cafe is closed today for some reason and they don't allow uploads from the library. This is from my favorite devotional song, from the movie Lagaan. It¡¯s sums up the spirituality of Bhakti Yoga quite nicely. Critics of Bhakti Yoga and of gurus, claim that having a ¡°savior¡± or sat- guru, makes one weak, helpless, irresponsible and passive, thinking that everything will automatically be corrected by their god or guru. But, those are only the mis-applications of Bhakti Yoga philosophy. It¡¯s been a while since I had used the audio editing software and my first attempt resulted in an unexpected but nice duet of the 2 clips in the file. The song is in Hindi, I believe, and is not hard to learn if you use the simple 2-note chord style of Krishna Das on the harmonium. When I sing it, I move the key down from D to C. I can't upload the whole song because I don't want to get sued, and the mono format keeps the size small. Tom *********************** O¡¯ Savior! O¡¯ Pure of Essence, Our dearly beloved one. We have no one but You Ease our troubles, O¡¯ Lord. We have no one but You You alone are our sole support You alone are our protector We have no one but You You have filled the moon with light. The sun shines only because of You. Your splendor lights the sky with stars. O¡¯ Lord, if not You, who will preserve this life? O¡¯ Savior! O¡¯ Pure of Essence, Our dearly beloved one. We have no one but You If You¡¯d heed, O¡¯ Lord, we make this plea: To those who suffer, grant them courage, May not hardship ever defeat them. To the weak, give your protection, So they may live in peace (and be happy). To Devotion, give Strength (Energy, Power). You are the Lord of all the Universe! Listen to this plea: When the path is full of darkness, give us the boon of Light!
