Guest guest
Actually, just for the sake of accuracy, the DB saris are around $1000 these days, give or take, depending on the amount of gold in them, the financial state of the recipient, etc. Conversly, her white saris are $150 (for dress and sari wrap). Bangles and other prasad jewelry is also quite varied depending on the material and how long Amma wore them. There were some green glass bangles that Amma wore for a whole day and night in San Ramon that went for $40 for the whole set, but the jade ones that she wore the day before went for $200. Amma's rudraksha earrings are $20/pair, while non-prasad rudraksha earrings are $10. Her rings can also be very affordable or very expensive, it's all quite mysterious. We bought Amma a really nice silk and gold sari as a gift at our wedding, which we found online for about $250. Her silver sandles go for $1008, and her little birkenstocks are also pretty pricey. These things are so precious, and so worth the money, considering that it's all going to charity. I used to go to the Mount Washington SRF Center in LA, and they have a few of Yogananda's personal effects there, under glass, and pilgrims come from all over the world just to sit next to his chair or see his handprint in cement. How fortunate we are that we can have these mementos of our beloved Satguru, whether a Devi Bhava sari or simply the petals she showers on us. Think how many devotees of Ramakrishna, Anandamayi Ma or Neem Karoli Baba would love to have some small token of their Beloved. My DB sari is now draped over a nice comfy chair, with Amma's photo on it next to our altar. I wear her white sari for puja, and often wear the wrap part around my head during meditation. It gives me great comfort to know that these things held my Amma. BTW, I have some scraps of material from Amma's DB Choli (shirt), where I had it altered for my wedding. If anyone would like to have a little piece of this cloth, I'd be happy to send it, just let me know, it was right on Amma's skin, next to her heart for a whole Devi Bhava! love, Prajna leokomor <leokomor > wrote: {{{Thank you Surya. Like others who toured a bit this Summer I am continuously amazed at your seemingly tireless yet meticulous Seva for our Mutual Mother. In City after City your Karma yoga seems Hanuman like. No I am not exagerating.}}} In Amma's Krishna and Jealous Gopi Parable my mind drifts toward a section of M.A. Center's Travelling Bookstore. There is a section where they sell Saris that Amma has worn at Devi Bhava's These items are several hundred dollars in price. Bracelets worn by Amma are far more expensive due to Her skin contact etc. Why? If you were a non spiritual scientist with a minor in Marketing one would think - well, - the mark up in price is due to the proximity of Amma's skin to the article of clothing or jewelry or cloth. Amma/Krishna (in the parable) wants to remind us that each and every Devotee has not only come in contact with Amma but have had our hair stroked, our chins and cheeks tweeked and even felt the Devi's holy lips on our foreheads. Are we not one hundred and eight times more valuable than a Sari from a Devi Bhava?
