Guest guest
Guru, its entirely up to the individual person. Many use sandalwood oil. Others use essential oils of frankincense and others but these are mixed with "carrier oils" such as cold-pressed almond oil which is quite close to the skin's natural oils and not likely to cause skin irritation. Some use olive oil. Others use mustard oil. However, I was informed that some experiments have shown that mustard oil is fiery (governed by Mars). Susceptible people who are sensitive to planetary influences or who have hot tempers should avoid using mustard oil. Sandalwood oil is the best as it is conducive to meditation and spiritual practices. Greatly recommend Mysore Sandalwood Oil becos Mysore has one of the world's best sandalwood forests. If you are interested, I think you can get it from Rudra Centre website www..com If you visit the site, click on Puja Items, Holy Items and surf around till you find it. Pretty sure its still there. If you can't find it, pls write directly to Mrs Neetaji at rudracentre (AT) hotmail (DOT) com and she will give you reply. How often to oil the beads depends on climate where you live. A rule of thumb is when you notice the beads becoming dry -- that's when they should be given an oiling.
