Guest guest Report post Posted August 18, 2006 Hi Ariel, Namaskar I dont know the company "Gangotri Minerals" that you mention. On Surya's request, I have just posted the address (including a photo) of the Gangajal water made by Uttarkashi Minerals Corp that I use. Please let me know if you have any website/email/postal address of the "Gangotri Minerals" company, thanks! The Ganga water plus 1008 Tirtha's bottle has its origins from the Sahasra Tirtha Jala Maha Abhisheka of HDG A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami, on the occasion of his Centennial Celebrations in 1996. http://www.afn.org/~centennl/centkals.htm <http://www.afn.org/~centennl/centkals.htm> I have a whole book about the subject of the collection of the 1008 waters (actually it is 1111). I was also BLESSED to drink this water at the centennial celebrations! Will post some particular info from the book here, if there is any interest. The water in this particular Tirtha bottle is made for some years from Ganga water collected locally at the ISKCON Sridham Mayapur temple in West Bengal. The Ganga water is carbon filtered and blended with a very minute amount of the 1996 water. The perceived energetic effect of this water is different from that of pure Gangajal. ~Ole <http://www.afn.org/~centennl/centkals.htm> sacred-objects, "Ariel" <kamael9 wrote: > > Hare Hari !! > > I too have some of those pouches of water from company called > Gangotri Minerals that is said to be packaged at 8500 ft. > > What I have RECCOMENDS on the pouch that it be used for drinking. > > I purchased it at local Indo Grocery store and man there actually > asked me what I was using the water for as it was sold at the puja > section > in store..I told him for puja and he said, "Good, that's alright > then." Guest guest Report post Posted August 18, 2006 Hi Ole, Yes, I was at the actual Samadhi of Srila Prabhupada in Vrindavan on that occasion 1996 and helped with the abhishek. Strange, besides me (Initiated 1967) there were only less than 10-12 actual disciples, including women, although there were hundreds of people. The real drama was in getting the super-heavy Prabhupada murti back on the Vyasasan after abhishek it was covered in ghee, etc., and slippery as greased-lightning. 10 men could'nt do it, and everyone was in big danger of slipping on the sharp-edged marble and I was fortunate to be the one who found the solution. On completion I almost fainted because the heat was terrible. I was amazed that no-one was injured because ghee was all over the floor and everywhere was slippery and sharp marble. After that I decided I wanted no more part of these over-blown fanatical parties or crowded slippery situations. And I've no intention of doing that again. Nor I see any need. I also drank that water with out getting sick. In fact I still have an unopened bottle of that 1111 tirtha water. It was said to have been filtered. The water in the unopened bottle still looks clean after 10 years. But I think under a microscope it might be a different story. In Vrindavan 1968-1973 I was drinking filtered well water, but there were dead rats and dead cats pulled out of that well... it was the only water, bath, drink, clean, everything. I got amoebic infection so often that it became terrible ulcerative colitis, and the Rama Krishna Mission Hospital (bless their souls) said they must operate and remove my colon... but, by an amazing story involving the President of India, I was cured. Still, I wasn't on the road to health until I left India and moved to Bangkok. My system never did get used to the amoebia in the Vrindavan water. It can bring a strong man to flat on his back within 45 minutes. Delirious. Totally shattered!!! If your intention is to die in bhauma-Vrindavan then just go there and have a sip... Guest guest Report post Posted August 18, 2006 Dear Richardji, Thanks for sharing that transcendental slippery story! [O:)] Hmm, that's really interesting about so few SP disciples being in Vrindavan for the Maha Abhishek, I guess most of the senior ISKCON leaders etc were in Srila Prabhupada's birthtown in Kolkata for the main festivities, but celebrations were taking place in ISKCON temples all over the world. I was at the local temple here in Denmark at the time and it was a very special event that I will remember for the rest of my life. The exact details about the filtering of the water is in the book I mentioned, I recall some 30.000 liters of gangajal being mixed with one ltr collected from each tirtha, a total of 31.111 ltrs. All of it were purified through steam distillation processing and bottled at a quality water processing plant, so contamination was effectively removed and well below bottled water health standards. They were very strict about the processing of the bulk water. Of course it would be interesting in itself to test the water in your unopened bottle after so many years. I will get the exact details of the water processing from the book when I return from Sweden in a few days. The book describes in detail the whole project and the great challenges that the ISKCON devotees went to collect the water from all those tirthas, really farout story. I believe you must have a copy of the book, if you sponsored a kalash? Guest guest Report post Posted August 19, 2006 This is the one that I have always had. I don't know if I have had the other that Ole posted. Surya - alstrup sacred-objects Friday, August 18, 2006 2:27 PM Re: Gangajal/1008 Tirtha water Dear Ariel Ji, Namaste and thanks very much for taking time to copy write the info from the label of the Gangotri water. I can not find any online references for this company. Are these 200ml pouches? Where do you buy yours, in the US? Does the label look like this: http://www.krishnaculture.com/cgi-bin/miva?Merchant2/merchant.mv+Screen=PROD&Store_Code=KC&Product_Code=GGJ I know that Uttakarshi Minerals Corp. received govt approval in 2005, I have a copy of their cert. papers and this was done in early 2005. They are allowed to draw 10.000 ltrs from the Gangotri every day. They claims they are the only ones so far. Perhaps this other company have followed in their footsteps. It could also be that they buy from Uttarkashi and get private labelling done. I will check with Uttarkarshi. I have for some time tried to find out how many companies are bottling gangajal from the himalayan region, but it is difficult to ascertain unless you go there yourself and do research, as some of the companies are not online. I would appreciate any insights from members here who know about other available labels. I purchased some 12 bottles of The Ganga Water 1008 Tirthas in 2004 from krishnaculture.com, to distribute among devotee friends. I also purchased T-series Gangajal which is/was bottled at Risikesh. The first time I tasted Gangajal was from an ISKCON devotee who had brought back a bottle he collected from Sridham Mayapur in West Bengal. This water remained completely fresh for 5-6 years until the last drop was consumed.. Robsteve 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2008 Ganga Jal (GangaJal, Gangaa Jal, Gangaajal, Holy water) -- Dear Sirs & Guruji, As a ardent believer in Hinduism & it's mythology, and due to my long association with the ISKCON & OSHO movement - I have been experimenting on my own. I have a question for all of you? and the quaestion is based on my real-life experiences? * recently I happened to buy some Gangaajal from this lady, who has listed her items on ebay.in - and the truth is I did not knew - Gangaajal could have tasted so good. Even the advertisers response was very good. So I am recommending to all of you to visit the link listed below or contact her at "RSCOMMN at (DOT) COM" * and now I have my questions, which are as follows . - I have been used to collecting raw water from River ganges right from GOMUKH to it's Delta BASIN - and using it for all my rites & consuming it as per the Guruji's advice. The water does look murky downstream but I had no complaints. - However, this lady advises and claims to have used R.O. filteration process & insists on using right packaging materials. _ My question now is - Is it still Gangaa Jal after filtertion???, even I have my doubts ??? - secondly, if Gangaa Jal is - what it is meant to be - Gangaajal jal sourced from any point right from it's origin till it meets the seas is supposed to be gangaajal. _ Personally, I have travelled on foot along the ganges - and I happened to notice - that Gangaa Jal does not mean water from the Gangotri Glacier alone. - It is a mighty river - containing feeds from not just one but thousand of little natural mineral water springs, rivulets, and of course from - Bhagirathi, alaknanda & so on. Even the seasonal rivers (during monsoon) contribute to it. Any comments & suggestions shall be much appreciated - in view of so many suppliers on the net claiming to offer you the real thing. However, I would like to comment that this lady on ebay.in is doing miracles, trying to offer real good Gangaa jal at very honest prices & that too in healthy PET bottles. Initially, I too had my doubts - but I am requesting everyone to give it a try. Thanks for reading this. Any comments & suggestions shall be much appreciated. Robert Stevenson, Oslo, Norway.
