True Marco. In fact, as you know Aurobindo was a great revolutionary too, and it was in Jail that he first got visions of the Divine. This story is very inspirational, and I would like to share it with everyone. Aurobindo(or Arvind in Sanskrit) was arrested for smuggling weapons to Revolutionaries. It was a automatic death sentence at the time. He was very worried in jail, when he had a vision. As he was walking in the garden, a tree there turned into Krishna. Soon all the guards and prisoners turnt into Krishna. Even the bars on his prison were Krishna. "Why are you worried, for it is me everywhere", the Lord said. (It must be noted Arvind wasn't a fanatic Vaishnav- he worshipped Krishna, but as the highest Divine force, not in the narrow sectarian manner that some people do in India). When he was taken to Court, another vision ocuured. The Prosecutor, Judge, all the lawyers, turnt into Krishna. Krishna said to him "Now do you understand? I descend into all Human beings, and guide their actions. All actions are actually done by me, it is only ignorant people who think they are the doers. Now are you afraid? What for? For it is all a game- I am in all and all in me". Then Krishna continued "It is not my wish you should goto jail- I have bigger plans for you". Then Krishna showed him that India would become independent anyway. "Why do you think you are doing anything- even if you were to die, stronger people than you are there to fight for freedom. For I have already decided about Indias freedom, and those who oppose it oppose my Will, while those who support it have my full Shakti behind them. So follow your own Swadharma" Within a year, the case against Arvind mysteriously dropped, even though he had supposedly caught red handed. But the police werent ready to give up- they were planning to arrest him on some other charges. But everytime they went to arrest him, he had mysteriously dissapeared. A voice in his ear warned him when the police was about to raid, and he was always one step ahead of them. Finally, Sri Aurobindo settled in Pondicherry, a French colony, where British couldnt arrest him. An intersting thing I read was that the place where he settled was the same place that Rishi Augstya had made his Ashram several 1000s years ago. Rishi Augstya founded the Sri Vidya Shakta sect, one of largest Shakta sects on India. Even though he wasnt aware of it, the place must have had some positive energies that drew Arvind to that exact place.
