Guest guest Posted August 20, 2006 Report Share Posted August 20, 2006 Festival begins at Pillayarpatti Sivaganga, August 18: The 10-day Vinayaka Chathurthi festival at the famous Lord Karpaga Vinayakar temple in Pillayarpatti in the district began today with the flag hoisting ceremony. Amidst chanting of Vedic hymns, the flag was hoisted in the presence of the temple trustees, chief priest K Pitchai Sivachariar and a large number of devotees. The processional deity mounted on 'Mooshika vahana' was taken around the temple. The car festival would be held on August 26 and the 10-day event would come to an end with the 'theerthavari' on the Vinayaka Chathurthi day on August 27 when over one lakh devotees are expected to throng the temple. Special buses will be operated for the benefit of devotees, officials said.
