Guest guest
If there's anything I wish I had done differently years ago, would be to have spent the money on a good jyotish reading, even if it took a couple of tries or different astrologers. I would have been better prepared for my life's struggles if I had. Certain members of my family have always had a bend towards going to psychics, and I use to go too. Most, if not all the time, people are seeking either solace or guidance. Nothing lasting can come from them. Although my sister's friend was able to accurately describe the first meeting between her and her now husband, the lady was so sensitive she couldn't enter hospitals and was a social invalid. Oh, and she and her sisters would cast curses against parts of the world when they were younger, and then watch the news to see if anything happened. Hmm, and they all take anti-depressants and choose abusive men for relationships because of chemical imbalances? Naw... This particularly lady's husband eventually got fed-up and divorced her. Jyotish is an accurate science if properly done. For example, the concept of a "mangalik" who is pretty much destined not to get married. Even Swami P said that Amma said that if she had gotten married, her husband would have died (one possible scenario for mangaliks; do a Google for more info). Also, for brothers or father/sons to be born in the same sign/house is Inauspicious (I can personally testify to the brothers part). I've read that if the son is born in the same house (and other similars) as the father, "It will cause the death of the father on the day of birth". I know someone this happened to. A close friend of my band's drummer in highschool hung out with us, but was from a different school. He had good looks, plenty of ease getting the hot girls, a nice sports car, etc., but we all wondered why he was out stealing car radios, and later getting busted for stealing cars. So we asked, "What's up with this guy?" My drummer said, "Well, when he was born, his father died. The money is from his stepdad's side." And we were like, "So what? Everyone has tough things to over come, he seems to be financially set." My drummer said, "No, no, you don't understand. Literally, as he was being born, as he was shooting out of his mother, flying across the room, his mother got the call that her husband had died in an accident." My drummer was quite the cut-up. "And so he blames himself for his father's death." The father was a Venuzuelan Air Force pilot if I recall and died in a crash. I've since included planetary mantras in my sadhana, along with ordering an occasional puja when I can afford. I would definitely add some planetary appeasement to the Amma satsang structure if it was up to me, but it's not. tom Ammachi, Prajna - Brianna <prajnaji wrote: > > I would personally tend to caution one against dabbling in the psychic realm. I concede that this may be unusual, but I had a reading in which a pattern/vasana was illuminated for me in a way that did help me to free myself from a certain struggle. > the lady was so sensitive she couldn't enter hospitals and was a social invalid. I knew someone like this. She could almost never leave her house. It was a sad situation. Iswari
Guest guest
I agree Jyotish can be a valuable tool in capable hands. Hard to judge that though. Actually Amma's claim about astrology has now brought its accuracy down to 50% according to Her during one of Her retreat Q & A (Alburquerque I believe--can't remember which one). It used to be 90%, then 80% and so on. Prasannan and I joked about the change on Tour. Interestingly, it didn't have an effect on his bookings. Even in the scriptures relating to Jyotish itself, it states that it is never performed wholly accurately. In fact the revealer of the system put a curse on it as such. She also mentioned this in Her talk. - Tom Ammachi Sunday, August 06, 2006 12:04 PM Re: Good Psychic vs. Jyotish (and stories) If there's anything I wish I had done differently years ago, would be to have spent the money on a good jyotish reading, even if it took a couple of tries or different astrologers.
