I do want to say that the only way one would have been able to prove the truth about who he was is by being around him in person. As you would have been able to feel the truth and he would have shown you the truth in much the same way as Ammachi does when she can see that someone is open and ready for it. >From what I have learned and from his teachings, which are on this website, that the body which was known as Haidakhan Babaji (two), was 9,000 years old. A Mahavatar is self-born and can take several bodies at once, some say up to 40. His only reason for appearing to humanity at that time was to help them to grow and learn about the Self, Truth, Simplicity and Love. The reason he left was that he saw that people were becoming too dependent on his form and not on the message that he was bringing. (This is where he differs in working with his devotees, to Ammachi who encourages us to be drawn to Her form.) He is the king of Guru's and Guru of Guru's and teaches with love, but also with a stern hand if necessary. It is my understanding that he has taken a body again. Hopefully this will shed some light. And advice that one skims over the first time you read Awaken Children may stick out of the page as if it's been highlighted in day-glo fuschia and underlined in triplicate the seventh time, or when the page falls open there. People change, needs change, situtations change, the guidance that suits the occasion naturally also changes. Clearly She's much more than the physical form. Far more. But She also says to cling tighter to Her feet when you feel like you want to run away. Reading books is not the way to get to the Truth, IMHO. This is especially true when they are authored by people who have particular agendas with getting them sold and spread. If you want to get at the truth, go spend some real time in that area of the Himalayas, in and around Almora and Ranikhet. And not just at the group's ashrams and with the group's devotees. There are plenty of people that are still alive that were there at the time and know what went on and what happened. I'll just leave it at that. There is probably at least a few who knew the original Herakhan Babaji as well, who still might just be in a body. Not meaning to belittle the time you spent on this subject, and as I said if it works for you, that is all that matters, but I have spent more than 20 years researching Babaji and in many more ways than just reading books. I spent quite a bit of time on it in the Garwal and Kumoan regions of the Himalaya.
