Guest guest
Jaya Guru Datta On this visit to Trinidad Appaji gave so much precious information and instruction on His Bhajans. The lines that stand out and which I keep remembering is being repeated here so that fellow devotees can benefit. In part,Sri Swamiji said:"sit at home in front of Swamiji's photo and practise for two hours with half-an hour for a new Bhajan every day ,no sruti,no harmonium. Then go and sit in front of Lord Datta ( in the temple) and He will teach you to sing." After Sri Swamiji's visit I re-commenced my daily reading of Sri Swamiji's Biography and found the following: Pg 338 --"Gradually I started to hear many Ragas inside me.Of these Ragas,Bhairavi Raga was heard more frequently.I started singing devotional songs..Assisted by the Bhairavi Raga the first Keertanas that came out from me was "Pahi Pahi Pahi Gajanana".Sri Swamiji would have been around the age of 12 years in the care of Aunty Venkamma. Some 52 years later,my experience here in Trinidad has been that for persons hearing Appaji's Bhajans and Music for the first time,"Pahi Pahi.." continues to be their first choice. At this time I am curious to know in what Raga is 1) Jai Jai Ganapati 2) Gam Gam Ganapati and what is the notation please. Sri Guru Datta Ramesh Pragg Talk is cheap.
