Guest guest
Dear members as a citizen of a country ( richest in the world just 300 years ago) i feel proud to disseminate some information on history of this country which became controversy in the exchanges between Todd and yeshendra few weeks back. The literature citings by them are yet to come, but here is a big file which gives in a nutshell almost everything about India, from Vedas to Missiles. INcluding some topics pointed out by yeshendra. The file is stored under the name "WatanMeraIndia" and in folder http://health.ayurvedaarticles/Dr.% 20BhateFiles/ [Copy the link and paste in browser window for access or use files button on left of screen when at home page of the group, folder 'articles' thereafter, subfolder 'Dr.BhateFiles' thereafter.] Download the file and watch leisurely. From Einstein to Aurobindo, and Dr. Abdul Kalam to David Frwley, you will find everyone's views there. Dr Bhate
Guest guest
> which became controversy in the exchanges between Todd and yeshendra > few weeks back. Here was the controversy, from my perspective, in summation: 1. It was said that eating meat creates mental fear. 2. I rebutted this point, saying there is nothing I have found in studying Ayurveda that says this is so, and given that fear is a symptom of vata, and meat is clearly indicated to reduce vata in Ayurveda, meat should have the opposite effect. I also stated that this is my experience, that increasing animal products in the diet has helpful to address symptoms of vata such as anxiety and fear. 3. The original point then shifted, and it was put forward that meat is not sattvic, and therefore clouds the mind, makes it dull, and inhibits one's capacity to be a spiritual practitioner. 4. I agreed on the point that this is a common belief, but it is not found in Ayurveda per se, and nor is it necessarily an important consideration for every person or necessarily supported by every spiritual tradition in India. I also stated that outside of India I have met people whom i feel are sattvic and also eat some meat, and gave some examples. Further, I also gave an example of a food generally considered tamasic, i.e. fungi, that other cultures view as a "spiritual" food, to illustrate the problem with dogmatic thinking. 5. It was then stated that the Vedic aryans have always been vegetarian. 6. In response, I stated that the entire weight of anthropological evidence in India as well as all over the world is that humans evolved eating some meat as omnivores, and display the anatomical and physiological features to suggest this is so (Note: some people unfortunately read "eating meat" as "carnivore" - please understand the difference.) 7. It was then stated that true Vedic aryans are different from other humans, and originally migrated from the north pole. 8. Regarding the first point I replied that there is no anatomical and genetic evidence of this fact, and with regard to the second point, is unprovable in any case and irrelevant to the original point of the effect of eating meat on the mind. So, that's how i saw the "controversy". Please forgive me, but I cannot understand what it has to do with Indian nationalism. India is a great country, perhaps the greatest the world has ever known, and although I am not Indian, hopefully you will allow me to admire and love Her as well. I truly enjoyed the slide show. best wishes... Caldecott todd (AT) toddcaldecott (DOT) com www.toddcaldecott.com
Guest guest
Dear My obection to meat eating is because it involves killing animals. Imagine, if there was a very stronger species that enjoyed and lived on human flesh, then what would have been your feelings when it would have approached you to kill you for eating? Just by the way. Thank you and still with all the regards for your knowledge and achievements and with all my best wishes, Hope you won't mind this comment of mine. It just occured to me and I wrote it. May God bless you more! S. M. Acharya <smacharya (AT) (DOT) co.uk> --- Todd Caldecott <todd (AT) toddcaldecott (DOT) com> wrote: > 1. It was said that eating meat creates mental fear. > 2.
