Going to Iowa

I had an experience that was absolutely delightful this year with

Amma. I was torn about going to Iowa as I could not stay for Devi

Bhava. I had to be back in St. Louis to take a flight to Chicago on

that Sunday. In addition to this, my friend was very interested in

meeting Amma. She had lost her daughter last year and I wanted to

make sure to go with her to meet Amma as I knew she would not go

alone or with strangers. Therefore the option of driving on to

Chicago would not work out.

I felt that going was the thing to do-even if it meant only seeing

Amma one day and possibly not even getting darshan. We had a nice

ride up to Iowa (love that drive from St. Louis-it's gorgeous!). On

Saturday morning we got to the hall early enough to be there before

Amma arrived. My girlfriend got her hug. I was feeling left out

since I had already seen Amma on tour, I couldn't get a token yet.

Waaa waaaa waaaaa.....Then, when I was thinking of this, another

devotee friend, Robin, comes up to me with a chocolate kiss from

Amma. She said Amma called her back to give her an extra kiss and

she felt it was for me from Amma to let me know She was thinking of

me! I was so happy. It may seem so small but it was so big for me.

Then I was offered to do lap next to Amma-or whatever it's called

now. I didn't get a spot in our Satsang because I was going to be

gone the day we had it. It was like a Mastercard commercial-

priceless..lol...no words express this adequately! I also got to

work darshan line front a lot-which I love. It gets nuts and it

totally matches my crazy mind! lol...

Later, that evening I was able to get darshan and thought that I

might not see Amma again. I even made plans not to be there.

However, Amma had something else in store for me. The next morning,

we were packing and getting ready to go. I almost skipped my IAM

program which I almost NEVER do. I usually do it 2x a day so

skipping it was totally out of character for me. I thought, we are

getting ready to drive home, I have time to pack, surely I can take

the short time to do my meditation.

I settled into a very pleasing meditation and felt Amma calling me

VERY STRONGLY to come see Her. Prior to this I felt unsettled about

going, not going, going, not going. I could not get any clarity on

what to do. I contacted the airlines and found I could take a

standby flight later-all the flights were pretty empty so I was

safe. We went to the hall and I just trusted that Amma would take

care of the details. Everything came together like a perfectly

orchestrated symphony!

When we arrived, Amma was already starting the meditation. The token

person told me that I had to come back for tokens after meditation.

Instead of sitting, I thought we would stand in line to wait.

Bhavani came up and told me to go meditate with Amma. I explained to

her I had a flight to catch and wanted to wait to get a token so had

to try to be first in line. She quickly pulled out the earliest

tokens in her hand and sent us off to meditate!

I was able to help my Satsang members with doing lap seva. We had a

glitch that I didn't realize until later and it worked out

incredibly well. There is no way to detail this part. My friend and

I went to do prasad (I told her we had to do it since we couldn't go

to Devi Bhava). She kept worrying about our token number. I told her

not to stress over it, it would work out. As SOON as we finished

doing prasad, the chart turned to our token number!!! I meet it was

as soon as I stood up. It was "other worldly!"

I looked for Tere, my friend. I couldn't find her. I walked around

the hall to the darshan entry and there she was. INCREDIBLY no one

else was even in line yet despite the couple of minutes it took for

me to get back there! We were able to go to the front chairs in the

line. I had the thought, how getting a hug with Tere would be so

much fun. We went to high school together and have been friends for

a long time. I have not ever had any close friends meet Amma before

and I thought of how the attorneys got hugged together in Seattle.

Tere turns to me and asks, "Would Amma bless us together?" DUH! How

did THAT happen?! LOL...So I said, yes! and then proceeded to let

her know how I had the same thought!

I kept leaning over to look at Amma between the people. Amma, was

leaning over and peering and smiling at me between everyone! I just

wanted to see Her as much as possible. I was leaving soon!

The day before, I had been asking on tour-from Seattle to Dallas and

now here I was in Iowa-how can I ask about becoming an IAM teacher.

None of it came together. But in Iowa, another teacher told me just

ask Amma! So I realized that I also came that morning to request

Amma's blessing to teach IAM. When I got up there, Gita asked Amma

for me and Amma said YES! I was so happy. It seemed so apparent that

She knew we were leaving. She hugged us several times. I was so

happy and joyful for my visit with Amma to end in this way. I cannot

wait to begin teaching as this means even more time to meditate!

I cannot wait to see Amma again......!!

And I forgot to add.. this!....upon arriving in St. Louis, I spent 15

minutes at my home picking up my suitcase and heading to the airport.

I arrived just at the right time for checking in for the next flight!

It came together SO EASILY...!

Once in Chicago, I arrived at a business function and everyone I

needed to see in my business group were gathered at one event. I

walked in and everyone was there! It was so seamless all the way and

it was just totally totally AMMA AMMA AMMA's handiwork!!

ONS everyone and love - blessed with some down time after being with Amma in Chicago, Iowa and Toronto...JAI MA for all the blessings and wonderful experiences.

I read a lot in all the Amma stories about how our perceptions of time and place and what happened are so affected when we let go of our expectations and fears and just let ourselves be with Amma and our brothers and sisters - this is really encouraging to me. There is an other worldly quality to life when we just let go and let spirit happen. So wonderful to share all your stories brothers and sisters o'mine...

In Chicago, I wanted to meet my people, so I wore a bright pink hat that said SNARKY! on it in big black letters. Wore the stupid hat all day - NOT ONE person came up to me. Went to my room - threw the hat on the floor, went back downstairs - immediately found Temba and was able to spend a lot of time with him...go figure... :)

Also my sister who has scirrocis (however you spell that) of the liver, I met you and can't think of your name...your energy is amazing.

Namah Shivaya,

I saw you and your hat from a distance, but was too engaged at the time to come over. Sorry about that. Then I guess I didn't see you after when your hat was off. Well maybe next time.
