Hi everyone,

I read this very good article on why the cow is considered holy in India.

Academics say Indians worship cow as it was very useful in ancient

times, but the train is also very useful, so will we start worshipping

train now?

As you know, Hinduism accepts the theory of evolution. Our scriptures

already mention we evolved from fish, which Science is just beginning

to accept. Similarly, though our bodies evolved from the Monkeys our

souls did not.

Rishis who can see their previous lives, went back and back till they

reached the animal stage. They all found that they were a cow before

they were given a human body. It cant be a coincidence all Rishis were

cows! There must be something special about the cow.

Amongst animals, the cow is the Limit of Satogun. As long as her calf

is fed, she allows anyone to take her milk. Her eyes are full of love

and kindness. Those who have a cow in their home know the cow is a

farily intelligent animal. Like the dog she is faithful to her master,

and wont let just anyone milk her.

So this is why we say the cow is our Mother. Spiritually, she is the

closest animal to us, she is spiritually our Mother.
