Hare Krishna.

Lord Krishna and Arjuna were speaking the Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Vedya-vyasa hearing this and at the same time recited to Ganapati who wrote it down (Bhagavad-gita is within the Mahabharata).

It says Vedya-vyasa wrote down all the Scriptures, so Ganapati wrote down ONLY Mahabharata right?

Did Vedya-vyasa write down the Scriptures in meditation later (after the Battlefield of Kurukshetra?). Or while it took place. :)?

HARE KRISHNA ! Pankaja_Dasa

Good question ! I am also puzzled by the source of our scripture - e.g

MAHABHRAT - where is the original or which one is the oldest copy - from where did SP translate his scriptures from - e.g BHAGAVAT GITA AS IT IS.

CAN ANY OF THE "SCHOLARS" SHED SOME LIGHT ?

JASWANT

The original Sanskit have been in exsistance since 5000 years ago or more, even Shankracarya (The Leader of the Mayavadis), accepted the 700 verses as athethentic, so there is no doubt regarding is athenticity (if it has been changed or interpolenated) AS it is carried (by Divya-jnana (transcedental realization to the living enity (soul), by living Scriptures

(Spiritual masters).

Srila Prabhupada for the first time gave an athentic translation. Following the succession. >>Brahma>>Narada>>Vyasa>>Madhavacharya>> (..) Chaitanya Mahaprabhu>> (..) Bhaktisiddhanta>> Prabhupada.

How did Vedya-vyasa heard the conversation between Lord Krishna and Arjuna?

Isn't Lord Krishna was saying it only to Arjuna?

Bhagabad-Gita is inside the Mahabharata-----so how did it separate?

Please///......explain!!!

Just as Sanjaya had divine vision, and was narrting BG and the happenings of the battlefield to Dhritharastra, though they were in Hastinapura, in the same way Vyaas knew everything. In fact Vyaas is none other than an Amsha Avatara of Visnu Himself!! The way i heard it (have not read facts specifically) is that Vyaas narrated MB to Sri Ganesha before the events happened.

BG is not separate from MB - it is part of the stiory, in the Bhishma Parva (chapter). But its contents are so different from the context of the rest of MB in spiritual nature that it was treeated as a separate text ubto its own right. Also, Krsna confirms he spoke BG to the Sun God many aeons ago so it is indeed like a diamond set into a golden crown - i piece of jewellery in its own right.

Dear sir

What I think is that we should not take this literely. Because Loard Krishna cannot make such a long lecture in front of two armies intended to kill each other. Bhagavath Geetha is the message that loard krishna gives to the whole mankind, not to Arjuna only. It is the sum total of the meaning of all the Vedas and upanishads.

The armies only waited for about an hour - that is how long it took Krishna to speak the Gita to His servant...
