Guest guest
Dear Hari, Regrettably, my knowledge of the Sanskrit is scant. Sanjay Ji is unambiguous in VRA about the direction. I think South West is a reasonable conclusion to draw as the Tithi is lorded by Rahu who rules this Disha. In case the elaborate ritual cannot be performed, I would go with what Pt. Rath suggests: install a water pot in the South West and worship the luminaries. In Shri PVR Narasimha Rao's lecture, using Shri Santhanam's translation of the BPHS, he interprets certain words to mean 'tender leaves' rather than just leaves and also includes the 'bark' of the trees to be put in the water. Further, he recommends that the Kalasha be covered with a coconut as per the standard practice, though the Shloka itself does not mention it. Shri Narasimha Rao also recommends placing a red cloth under the Kalasha with the Pancha Pallava OR the tender/ young Pancha Pallava and a yellow cloth on the top. This again is not part of the Shloka but presumably a standard ritualistic practice and thus recommended by Shri Narasimha Rao. So these things could also be kept in mind. Though the Dosha is stated to have financial implications of the negative sort for the parents, I feel it is a potent inauspicious Yoga for the Jatak himself as well and must be remedied. The Sage says at birth but if not then whenever. Shri PVR suggested that the Sage did not stop at enumerating the challenging consequences of the Yoga but kindly prescribed remedies and also said that if performed they would lead to "Kalyanam' or pacification/ Shanti or auspicious results. There is yet another MP3 on the subject by PVR but I have not had the occasion to listen to it just yet. Best Wishes.
