Guest guest
it would make good sense that the tenth bhava would be the house of the father as it is 7th from the 4th and that would be more logical. I think that the 9th bhava specifically deals with religion and preceptors and gurus. I don't think the 9th bhava should be considered for the father. that is my humble opinion and also from rational logical deduction. there are many who are using the 9th house but from my own chart I see that the 10th bhava will be more correct regarding the nature of my father. sincerely, __________________________ __________________________ Raja Gursahani 15690 Orchard Way Kerman, CA 93630 (cell) 314.761.3134 rajagursahani
Guest guest
Dear Raja, Parashara and many other astrological authorities attribute the indications of father to 9th bhava and not without reason. One becomes father only after begetting a progeny and the relation is no longer that of only husband and wife but also father and mother of the progeny. Of course you are free to hold your own opinion. Chandrashekhar. Guest guest
Raja, Actually I was hoping that someone would bring up another perspective in this discussion! Which is: both 9th and 10th describe the different aspects of 'father' and Girish Chand Sharma ji goes into that in his translation of BPHS :-) BPHS has several other instances where somewhat contradictory statements are given, for example the rulerships of lunar nodes. I have an article on this -- I think at www.boloji.com/astro with the title 'astrotreasures ...". If interested, please peruse that. Also, rather than reinterpreting things any which way one can, I would rely on established authors/translators like G.C. Sharma. He may not be perfect but I am sure has an excellent knowledge of sanskrit and practical experience in jyotish. Soney mein sugandh, as they say. Please read his chapters 22 and 23 for the 9th 10th/father issues. Best wishes, RR , "Raja Gursahani" <rajagursahani wrote: > > it would make good sense that the tenth bhava would be the house of the > father as it is 7th from the 4th and that would be more logical. Guest guest
Father is father first and mother's spouse much later, cognitively speaking. Father gives you the religion and in most cases is the first teacher too. May be one could look at stepfather from the 10th house. Guest guest
Mr. Shankar, Realistically speaking for religious and atheist progeny alike -- there are fewer immaculate conceptions these days than your statement might indicate in most of the real world! In terms of biological sequence of procreation as we earth-dwellers know! Guest guest
Let me clarify: Religion aka dogma, be it belief in God or lack of it, is exposed to the child through the father. To a child a father is father first, and mother's spouse later. A child's cognitive understanding of conception comes much later. I am not sure if a child is born with the knowledge of how it has been conceived. However it surely has a distinctive feel of father and mother. I am only referring only to the experience of a person. Astrology is to me, a prism to view the experince and give a palliative order...amongst many other things. Guest guest
In a chart 5th House is purva-punya balam. Progeny is also seen from 5th house because how the children would be depends on our purva-punyas. Now if we go to house of father( 9th H) from 5th house we come to Lagna which is self. And 9th from Lagna is father. Father's father can be arrived at by going 9Houses from 9th house and so on. Now from which house do we see pitri doshas - i dont think from 10th or 10th from 10th. 9th house is also religion and guru. But as said by somebody else Father is our first guru. The religion which we adopt first is the religion of our father. 4th H is mother and 7th from 4th (10th H) is mother's husband. So it talks more of relation between mother and father.
