RE: Why shirt forbidden for gents in south indian temples?

>From what little i know, the reason for men being bare chested in temples is that, in the sanctom sanctorum under the petam of the idol they put lot of items which have medicinal value. When we are in the vicinity of the idol we get some part of these through breathing etc. Men have more power in their shoulders through which they get these and when they do namaskaram in there the shoulders touch the ground and through this also they get . This is what i was told in one the temples i visisted.
